2022 Rams Draft Board

Here they are... my final list of Rams draft targets (expanded to 25 players) and 7 round mock draft. We'll soon see how I did!

Rams Draft Board

11. Brian Robinson, RB, Alabama (RSr.), 6’2, 226 lbs.

Whoa, where did you find this kid?? this is who I want us to take. PERFECT 1-2 compliment to Akers. Our run game would be KILLER if we got this kid. Great vision, patience, and can drag tacklers. Can catch out of the backfield. Now, NFL tacklers will be bigger & faster for sure, but there's no bigger program in the NCAA than AL & this kid was steam rolling others that he may see again in the NFL. He will ALSO get bigger & faster w/ our LA weight training programs.

We get this kid, and every other pick is gravy to me.

While I know I'm in the minority here, I consider RG more of a current 'need' position than at Edge OLB. Coleman Shelton is a completely worthy reserve Center, I can also see him possibly starting at LG, but I have trouble picturing his 299lb. body holding up as a starting run blocker on the right side. If we wish for better results out of our RB's, get them a road grading RG and a blocking TE/FB type.
After filling the RG role, CB is the next most important free agency/draft position to add depth to during the pre-season, then I'd say Edge, FS, RB, and a blocking specialist at TE.
Just my opinion.

Going into this I could not really get a feel either way for what they believed they had at OG. But the fact that they were looking at Strange is a bit of a tell and insinuates that the interior spots at the least are a concern.

Also I agree with the fact that we need to get better running the ball. Now to some extent we will be better with more threat at WR being in the defense's minds. No way you can spend all week shutting down our run game in practice if you have Kupp & Robinson on your mind. No way you can feel good with a loaded box when those two are threatening to flip the field on you.

But Whit being moved out is significant. Looking at this group how do they get better? Only way is with a draft pick added who can compete for starts.

Lastly I still think OL is behind CB and Edge in need, purely from comparing roster depth. But that said if Edge gets snapped up the Rams will still be dangerous in their rush. That is probably not the case with CB and in fact I feel like if we don't get one good corner we're up shit creek. I think that is the difference in being eliminated or maybe defending this championship. So maybe OG is the fallback for them.

Well, ... my desire to improve on our RG and CB situations is what is behind my calling for the Rams to move up in the draft. I feel we'll struggle to find mid-season starts with the more developmentally challenged later round draft picks than if we take a shot at improving our draft slots in the 3'rd and 4'th rounds, and outside of trading Rapp and/or our 2023 2'nd round pick, the gamble becomes greater. While I hope that David Long, Robert Rochell, Tremayne Anchrum & Chandler Brewer rise to the occasion, these are the positions that I feel we are most vulnerable entering the new season. jmo.
