2021 Mid to Late round return specialists

3rd day projections

First, a couple players that have already been noted in other Mocks…

Props to @Memento for highlighting Jaelon Darden – WR - North Texas
and @jrry32 for CB Avery Williams – Boise St.

WR Whop Philyor - Indiana

CB Tre Brown - Oklahoma

3 Returns @ 0:34, 2:10, 2:30 ; arguably could go on Day 2 due to ability as a CB and strong showing at the Senior Bowl

WR Marquez Stevenson - Houston

2 returns: 1 @ 1:18, 1 @ 4:26
I really like Stevenson. Have considered him in one of my Mocks as a Deep threat. However, he didn't do much during Senior Bowl week to separate himself.

WR Jeremiah Haydel - Texas State

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2vWOzyAFDI

1 return @ 1:12

WR Kaylon Geiger - Troy

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHEEBe9uJjs&t=292s

1 return near the end

CB Marcus Jones - Houston ( junior – undeclared at this point )

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCH5t77381I

WR Jaylond Adams - Southern Miss ( RS Jr – opted out of 2020 season – undeclared )

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgBj06an8Uc&t=231s

2 returns in first minute

Note: IMO, this guy is the most dynamic of all ; he's got alot of juice. Just don’t know his status at this point.

I'm still curious about our own Raymond Calais who also had 541 kick return yards for a Sun Belt Conference-best 28.5 yards per attempt. We may already have our return guy ...

Why no Anthony Schwartz? 10.21 100 is stupid fast! His stats at Auburn aren't mind blowing in 3 years, but his speed is.

Tyreek Hill was 4.29 40 and shit stats except for return yardage. He was 165th pick

My point simply is the goal is only speed period. He doesn't need to be our 1st, 2nd or 3rd best receiver but like Tyreek we could get lucky.

My intent was to focus on guys that are little less known and would be drafted in approx the 5th - 7th round, or UDFA. Schwartz is a known player who will probably be drafted in the 3rd or 4th round.

Maybe he could be ..... my thoughts are that at least 70% of kick offs end up in a touch-back. KO returner is not used as much as a PR. And, kick-off returners don't use the same skill set that a punt returner uses. Personally, I am more interested in a punt returner who is shifty, has good change of direction, and has a good burst but doesn't need to be the fastest player on the field. There are some guys on my list that may be more of KOR than PR, like J. Haydel and M. Stevenson. They both have returned punts, but both are more straight line runners and change direction quickly.

Good point, and i'm not sure what Calais brings to the table as a punt returner, but I assume he was signed pretty much only for his return capabilities. jmo.

I am sure the Rams already know what Calais brings and have decided to look elsewhere or at least an upgrade.
