1. Now that's more like it!!!*

2. *For the final 30:43, that is!

3. There were definitely some execution issues with the offense in the first half, but I have to give some credit to the Cardinals. They clearly game planned well to take away some of the Rams' bread and butter passing plays. It was frustrating to watch.

4. Then, with 43 seconds to go in the half, the Rams complete a 49 yard bomb to set up a field goal that created some really positive momentum. Was that deja vu of the big completion against Tampa in the Divisional Round two years ago or what?

5. Then, in the second half, the Rams came out an absolutely ran the ball down the Cardinals' throats! I love the elegance and excitement of a dynamic passing game as much as the next guy, but that really appealed to my love of old school football. Somewhere in the heavens, Chuck Knox was smiling.

6. Can't say enough about Kyren Williams. He showed a level of patience, vision, and power that I have not seen from him. 20 carries for 158 yards (almost all in the second half) and TD. Awesome. He is my clear cut Offensive Player of the Week.

7. Cooper Kupp had a great game as well. 7 receptions for 148 yards and a TD. He is almost impossible to cover one on one.

8. Kyren and Cooper both tweaked ankles today. Hope they're both okay. Get those ice baths ready, because we're going to need these guys going forward.

9. Give the defense credit. Apart from a couple of Dobbs runs, they kept the game in control when the offense was finding its feet, then came up with two big turnovers to keep the Cardinals from getting back into the game when the Rams took a lead.

10. My Defensive Player of the Week is Aaron Donald. In the first half, he was key with 3 TFLs, and provided pressure all afternoon (including a sack nullified by a ticky tack facemask penalty on Michael Hoecht).

11. Speaking of Hoecht, it looked like he hurt his arm/elbow in the second half. If he has a significant injury, [INSERT TRADE SPECULATION HERE].

12. Byron Young is going to be a great player. He's already very good.

13. McVay just said he thinks Kyren "should be good" despite tweaking his ankle (these thoughts aren't only random, they're real time!)

14. The offensive line must have really loved being able to showcase their run blocking, and they didn't disappoint.

15. Its nice to see some "no name" defenders, such as Jonah Williams (2 TFL, 1 sack, 2 QB hits) and Christian Rozeboom (big INT!) making plays.

16. Matthew Stafford wasn't the headliner today, but he made some really nice throws, including the bomb to Kupp, a beauty to Tutu Atwell, and the TD to Kupp.

17. Puka Nacua had a quiet day on the stat sheet (and failed to reel in a TD opportunity), but McVay praised his run blocking. He's really become a big part of this team very quickly.

18. Six games in... .500 record... in the thick of the playoff chase. The team is really justifying our faith and loyalty.

19. Good luck to Sean and Veronika McVay, who may be parents by the time the Rams kick off their next game.

20. Aaron, Cooper, Matthew... lots of great name choices for baby-boy McVay!

Yeah Stafford took one sack where I wish he would’ve thrown it away but besides that he was on the money for pretty much the whole day. The degree of difficulty of some of those throws to Kupp and Tutu can’t be overstated.

Everyone’s job on offense gets easier when McVay commits to running the ball.

Just a heads-up that neither Ernest Jones, nor Kevin Dotson finished the game.
That's very disconcerting.....we are going to need all hands on deck including both of them next week against a very physical Steeler team.
Hopefully it's just some minor stuff and they can get back on the field this week....

Staffords throws were fantastic today. If Higbee and Puka don’t drop those easy TD passes, Stafford is the headliner.

21. Trammell learned that flipping over and landing on your head is not fun. And its even worse when you lose the ball. Defense balled out and bailed him out.

Could have been precaution moves. Jones was limited during the week.

20RT footnote…

I’ve now watched a couple of games that featured Jonathan Vilma a the color commentator and I have to say… he’s pretty good.

Yep- he is one of the better co-commentators out there, although someone in the game thread last night (can't remember who) didn't like him.

Plus, Vilma has the added bonus of making me get the theme tune to The Flintstones in my head every time I see his name.

1.Mcvay knows he gets away from the run to a fault. Now he will trust the offense & give teams more to game plan against.

2.The Rozebooms INT clinched it.It was the eight straight runs to start the half. Then Kupp dotting the eye with Stafford.

3.They sort of shut down Puka.Did he change from x,y,or Z? The Cards HC was frustrated inside. You could see him wanting to get back to the film studying.Kyler Murray will be playing the next time they meet the Cards.

4. Cooper Kupp is just amazing. How he gets over the top of defense.I swear watching him at training camp has always been a thing of beauty. He is only going to bring the WR group even closer.VAN JEFFERSON & CAM AKERS were CANCERS.(Me 1st.).

5.Hate to say Jeff Fishers name as well.He learned from Chuck Knox.John Robinson came from the Old USC Student Body Right.
If you look at the tape Kyren darts to his right.I thought of Scott Linehan & SJ(gets over looked).

6.As I posted LMFAO about Oldnotdead dead saying what trash Kyren Williams is over & over again.Right after that 2nd run of the half. Then he goes off was poetic. —My GF wants to be a RAMS hater. She even said it yesterday she wasn’t a Rams Fan.
Every time she does she gets PUNISHED!! She doesn’t even know it yet. That said is she Loved B.Young’s(he has bulked up since then) butt. She wanted a 23 jersey if I was to get her one.

7. Kupp is a HOF WR.Robert Wood helped mold him,but Kupp has always had that drive.Winning the Triple Crown & Super Bowl. The way he blocks & mentors.Always stays positive.

8.Kupp Williams any Ram.Reggie Scott is The Best!! He has a staff that is Top Notch!! To think Donald(of course)Sterling wouldn’t even provide soap for Clippper Players. Stan Kronke has provided The RAMS HOUSE!! Games like this exterminates other teams Fans.

9.from Oldbutnotdead- thank you Raheem Morris & his coaching staff. lol

10.The Classic AD99 was in with the 2nd team at The End(of game).

11. It was F” UP!! The FREAKING Holding Calls that don’t get called. All around The NFL!! When a DE/OLB gets around a Tackle the Tackle grabs the outside arm locking the DE up.How is that not holding???? Hoecht got hurt on a Rams sack & a penalty wasn’t called. There was a clear hold & you can see when Hoecht gets held his face is in pain & it’s almost worse than a policeman cuffing you.He pulled his shoulder out of the socket almost? From his pain.I didn’t get a good angle on it,but I’m pissed The NFL isn’t calling those holds..Vanvakenburg actually got into a little rhythm at DE/OLB.

12.B. Young - thumbs up - Matias didn’t get training camp & is going to be an exciting player.Growing pains.

13.?? Injuries happen

14.The Big question even before the game was about keeping this O’Line together?Noteboom makes the perfect swing.

15.did anyone notice when the 2nd string LBer lined up as a DT?
The 2nd string players showed up!!

16. Stafford is a HOF.

17.Pucka is a stud

18.19. 20. Go Rams

I did enjoy Vilma yesterday.
He was unbiased and seems to have fun doing it.

My GF wants to be a RAMS hater. She even said it yesterday she wasn’t a Rams Fan.
When I was dating my wife we went to a sports bar to watch the Rams play. I told her I was a Rams fan. She said "I like the 49ers". I told her "Yeah, well thats not gonna work for me". She has been a Rams fan ever since.

I'm sorry, but Trammell should be cut. Bring up Tyler Johnson, bring up Xavier Smith, bring up someone more dynamic who won't cost the team.

Dude if you are going to mock me then at least get it right. I've consistently said Williams was a good RB. What I said was teams don't fear him and rightly so. He's done nothing until Sunday to make them change their minds. Even McVay didn't respect him as evidenced by shutting him down early in the first half.

I said he ran like he was on a mission, and he was. He knows that he must carve out his place in this offense. Even Akers knew that which is why he returned early from an Achilles injury and also ran like he was on a mission. One great game against an unprepared opponent who is 1-5 does not a McCaffery make. He needs to be that force every week from here on out. That's when DCs begin to game plan him. He can't afford to let up and he knows it. I'm happy for him as he showed he's got the mental fortitude to be good in the NFL. He can't afford to becoming a footnote in this offense.

This offense is predicated upon a strong run attack. It slows the pass rush down when they have to account for a run. Also, give credit where credit is due, he was receiving outstanding blocking in the game. He was more often than not, untouched until he was in the second level. The guys up front did a great job in blocking for Williams. Those consecutive runs in the second half against a DL expecting the run showed how good this OL can be. The pass blocking always lags behind the run blocking.

Also before you say shit like you did perhaps you should simply check Pro Football Reference and Williams performance in the previous games. Only one game of the previous five did he break 100 yds against Indy. Up to last Sunday, his longest run was 11 yds against the Colts who are ranked around 28th against the run. Every other game he was in the low 50 yds in his production and one game less than 40 yds. So everything I said was completely valid.

Do I want him to succeed? Absolutely, why not? Do I think he can? The jury is still out. He didn't against quality opposition. So before you crow about how you always knew it, we need to see if he can continue that way from here on out. Sorry if I burst your bubble.
