1. I'm not one for hypotheticals... I prefer to analyze the game I saw.
2. That said, with a healthy Matthew Stafford, I think there's a good chance we would have walked away with a win today.
3. Brett Rypien is not an NFL QB. Period. End of story.
4. The Rams need a professional backup behind Stafford. In today's NFL, the chance of having to get a win or two in the course of a 17 game season without your QB1 is pretty high. You can't march out a guy who has a weak arm, no pocket presence, and telegraphs his throws.
5. I guess the Rams thought they would have their QB2 in Stetson Bennett. I never liked the pick, even before he was shelved. Clearly, we can't rely on him going forward (sorry, that's the reality). The Rams MUST have a better Plan B next year.
6. While the lack of a credible QB was the biggest issue today, it was not the only issue.
7. Sean McVay's poor play calling on 3rd and 4th and short cost the Rams three drives. Would the Rams have generated points if they had converted? Who knows? But, in a game that was close most of the day, every possession counts.
8. The running game never had a chance. With good reason, Green Bay saw no reason to fear the pass.
9. You can't blame the defense for this one. They made some good stops, and generated 4 sacks and 2 turnovers.
10. There were some 3rd down breakdowns, but they held up their end of the bargain, for the most part.
11. The DBs had some issues in coverage (Russ Yeast really blew an opportunity to make a play on the final scoring drive). Our CB room will probably have some new faces next year.
12. I've seen enough of Lambeau Field, thank you very much.
13. Someone needs to invent better rain cleats.
14. Nobody deserves Offensive Player of the Week. I'll give it to Cooper Kupp by default (led team with 48 yards).
15. On defense, I'll split the award between two rookies: Kobie Turner (10 tackles, 1 sack) and Byron Young (10 tackles, 2 sacks).
16. When I see Byron Young, a 3rd round pick, with 5 sacks in 9 games, I can understand why the Rams would not have wished to trade draft capital for the opportunity to give Chase Young or Montez Sweat a mega-FA deal.
17. The Packers probably walked away with a beef over some ticky-tack penalties, but the offensive PI on Nacua was a BS call that really impacted the game. If the defender impedes the receiver and the receiver fights his way free, that's not PI.
18. The bye week comes at a good time. The Rams need to get healthy and regroup. I still think it is possible to get back into the playoff hunt, but the hope is much dimmer now.
19. The Rams are 3-6... just like they were after 9 games last year. I feel strongly that this is a better team with more talent and more reason for hope but, at the end of the day, you are what your record says you are. Last year, 3-6 became 3-9. I don't expect that to happen again, but it sure feels like a long time since we've seen this team put together four quarters of quality football.
