1. We won. Everything else is commentary.

2. I think the Cowboys are a pretty good team, so this was a quality win.

3. I thought McVay did a very good job of game planning to take the Cowboys pass rush, which is formidable, out of the game for the most part.

4. Not a ton of holes for the running backs, but I thought they did a good job of ensuring that we had positive yardage on virtually every play.

5. You have to love Malcolm Brown. 6th Round pick... playing behind a franchise back for his first 5 years... RBs drafted every year to essentially take his job... and he's not only still there... he's thriving.

6. Jared Goff had a solid outing. The INT was obviously not his fault (should have been a 15 yard penalty) and there were a few (Everett, Jefferson, Brown) drops.

7. The deep throw to Jefferson was a thing of beauty.

8. Yes, that was offensive pass interference. Textbook, really. They "surprised they would call that at that point in the game" take is silly. The rules are the rules.

9. Aaron Donald really messes with opposing teams' game plans.

10. Michael Brockers had a nice game.

11. Jordan Fuller - what a huge play for the rookie!

12. Leonard Floyd did a good job rushing the passer.

13. Seeing Jachai Polite in a tight 4th quarter on the field and pressuring the QB was pretty remarkable. There's talent there... hope he continues to show it.

14. Sam Sloman's first FG attempt was pretty ugly. Jury's still out on that one.

15. The new stadium is impressive. Really impressive. Can't wait to see it full.

16. I thought the new uniforms looked pretty good. Still would have preferred making the throwbacks permanent, but you can't always get what you want.

17. Taylor Rapp's limited role was surprising. I suspect it was situational, to a large degree, but its not what you want to see in a promising second year player.

18. Overall, you have to like the Game 1 contribution of the rookie class.

19. The piped in crowd noise was interesting. I found myself forgetting that there were no fans in the stadium. I'm sure the players didn't feel that way.

20. Its been a long offseason. I really needed this one!

Good points.

Small note: Malcolm Brown was an undrafted free agent, not a sixth round pick. That was John Kelly.

Whenever Brown spelled Gurley I always thought "wow, he can do this stuff too, and he runs really tough for some tough yards." Not surprised at his succcess last night.

Yeah I kept looking for Rapp and kept seeing Fuller. I kept wondering if there was some injury to somebody.....

Akers was a little disappointing to me, but at the same time it seemed like with all his runs the blocking wasn't there.

Also did anyone notice Van Jefferson on Goff's int? He needs to work on tackling--looked like he didn't want to get involved, and had more than 1 chance to....

Hate to say it because I’m a Gurley fan. But you saw something yesterday that we haven’t seen for 1+ seasons in our RBs. That’s fighting for yards post contact and running hard until down. Brown especially had several runs where he was determined to get that 1st down or just a few extra yards after contract. Akers as well though.

@Ram Ts I saw Gurley running hard last year but only saw it from about the 15 yard line near the end zone. I think Coach was disappointed with his effort on the rest of the field last year and that was a big factor in making a decision to cut ties.

Akers was pressing too much, typical of a rookie back. Brown had more success, because was 100 times
more comfortable as a veteran should be.
Half time adjustments on defense were very good. already liking our new DC.
Love me some Jefferson and Fuller.
Snead don't need no stinking first round picks!!

Brown was decisive and ran hard after cuts. It will come in time with Akers, but, for the time being, Brown needs to be out there on the important downs. He always gains yards on his carries because he is hard to bring down.

Man I wish Jefferson would have come down with that catch, but he did make an excellent catch earlier in the game. Love what I see from him and love that he is being used as much as he was.

Bring on the Eagles!

Mal was running pretty hard last night. I was hoping he'd get 100 (he ended with a career-high 79 I believe) but he did pretty well breaking tackles and fighting for extra yards. Plus the 2 TDs.

I don't often say things like this, but it pisses me off to hear them whimper about that call...I think the 'Aints got got jobbed on the no call back when...I think the call yesterday was correct and obvious...I didn't think they should make that call in that situation

.Fuck you, McCarthy...That point in the game ??? I hate the "let them play at the end of the game" Bullshit..
iI it's a good call on the 1st play of the game, it's a good call on the last play of the game...Penalty calls shouldn't be dictated by what part of the game they happen in...He:s a dick to try to tarnish the Rams win...His team didn't get it done, the Rams did, period...

Good points.

Couple of things. Rapp, wasn't out there because the guy was injured thru most of camp. He didn't take a snap during any of the scrims and McVay didn't want to push him back too soon. Good thing Fuller seems like the real deal. It's going to be great having some depth on the back end.

One thing that stood out to me is the tackling, while it wasn't completely terrible there were times when I clinched my butthole because guys were over pursuing the ball. Pretty common when you have no actual play time. So I know that will get corrected.

Kiser and Young worry me a bit. While I like Kisers aggressiveness i did not like his coverage skills. He doesn't seem to have the speed to keep up sideline to sideline. We'll see as he gets more comfortable tho.

All and all a pretty solid game and gameplan. I think once the Rams made their halftime adjustments on D they really figured out what the cowboys were trying to do and stuffed it.
I'd like to see the Rams to take some more shots down the field but I'd also like to see if our Oline has improved from last year.
