1. I'm back from a few days off the grid.

2. See what happens when I leave for a few days?

3. The Rams have lost 5 games this year, but Sunday was the first true debacle. No part of the team (other than Aaron Donald, perhaps) played well. Just a series of mistakes by an unproductive offense, porous defense and mistake-prone special teams unit. Nothing really here for me to analyze at this point, it's been done to death here already.

4. While the extreme disappointment of fans does not surprise me, I am a bit baffled by how extreme it becomes after a couple of consecutive losses. For the record...

5. No, Matthew Stafford is not done.

6. No, replacing Sean McVay is not a good idea.

7. No, a fire-sale of our veteran talent before yesterday's trade deadline would not have been a good idea.

8. No, it's not time to give up on this season or "tank" for a higher draft pick.

9. The truth is, the Rams are still a playoff contender. I would put good money on at least one 9-8 team making it in the NFC, and the Rams can reach that mark.

10. This week could be key. Getting to 4-5 before the bye would be huge. It would allow the Rams to heal up for a stretch run that has many winnable games on the schedule.

11. As I write this, Stafford is still "day to day." Like many, I'm torn. If the Rams could steal a victory at Green Bay without him, thereby allowing him to heal up over multiple weeks, that would be ideal.

12. I'm guessing he'll play.

13. A win would also be huge for the confidence of a young team.

14. Last Sunday was horrible, but things are tough all over. KC lost to Denver? SF is on a three game losing streak? The same Cowboys who just blew us out lost by 32 to SF and also lost to the Cardinals? The point is... a full season defines a team. A game or two... maybe just an anomaly.

15. I'm still bullish for this team's future. However this season turns out, there is enough young talent gaining valuable experience to form a solid foundation. Next year, when that foundation intersects with our fading stars, some key FA acquisitions, and premium draft picks, look out.

16. Some are lamenting the Rams not getting in on Montez Sweat or Chase Young. Of the two, I would have preferred Sweat. With both, though, its not hard to see why the Rams did not wish to give up draft capital for a player who is going to demand big money this offseason. Better to find another Byron Young in the draft.

17. Young seems like a rental for SF. I'm betting he signs elsewhere this offseason.

18. For continuity's sake, I'll name an offensive and defensive player of the week. Darrell Henderson gets the nod (by default) on offense, and Donald on defense.

19. Chin up, guys... there's still a lot of football to be played this year!

20. I'll try not to leave again. Clearly, you guys need me. :sunglasses:

Agreed. Smart move so was it a cap situation? No doubt our 3rd would have secured him as it’s worth way more than the 9ers compensatory pick! They will most likely retrieve that if he signs elsewhere. He’s been sensational this season so far

This is where I disagree. Looking at the trade value we could have traded our 3rd and got Young + lower pick in return. No way Washington would have done what we do and acted in the players interest! If it’s CAP related then I can understand, otherwise... Ho hum... FFS & oh dear, come round 2!

You were spot on with the other 18 and I commend your sensible take where so many failed :)

How has a game EVER started so well, and come off the rails so quickly?!?? That is what is frustrating.

Thx @AvengerRam , love these posts.

12. I hope so too; do we even have a QB2 on the roster right now? who is it?

21. Stan still owes Jerruh for his support on the move. I'm thinking there's some kinda handshake deal between them for x number of losses to the 'Boys. Otherwise I have no idea why we always seem to stink it up when playing big D in their crib. We have a number of blowouts there now, iirc.

20RT Footnote...

While I maintain that Stafford is not "done," I don't disagree with those who assert that the Rams should be looking to draft a QB of the future as early as 2024. I'd be reluctant to invest a first round pick (maybe if we have sign enough other pieces in FA), but its definitely something that we need to address at some point.

Best cause for short term optimism is that Green Bay is really, really bad. Lafleur himself called them a "mess" the other day. The Jordan Love era is going to be nasty, brutal and short. If Stafford can grip the ball Rams should win.

If Stafford is relatively healthy, we can beat Green Bay.

Without Stafford, well um ..... it could get ugly

I don't see any way in my current head we can win this game if Stafford doesn't play. Would love to be wrong.

I mean, Love (after a few good throws at the beginning of the season) looks BAD. Things could go any which way for this game.

Looking forward to some more consistency from defense and more Durant outside. Looks like that's the direction their heading with STAR getting put on the backburner and nickel being split between Jolly and Lake.

I'm more pessimistic this year. Its probably my defense mechanism. I was that way before the McVay era. I didn't want to set myself up for disappointment. What I saw the past couple weeks was the same thing I saw last year. An offense that struggled to put up points. A defense that couldn't get off the field.

I'm baffled...maybe bewildered is a better term at the polar opposite halves that we have been having. 1 good half and 1 bad half...the play calling in the second half of the Bengal game was just plain stupid/dangerous....same with the Steelers game..I know many here attribute that to the youth of the team. The problem is, the youth are not calling the plays...and if your youth are not executing the plays correctly, then perhaps call some plays that play to their strengths. But leaving an overmatched LT in the Bengals game one on one on the Bengals best pass rusher is just insanity.....The Cardinals second half was a revelation...and then a celebrating Kyren Williams has to be casted up and miss 4 games. Now I'm just ranting...I'll stop. This team is not analyzible at the moment...it takes logic to analyze and this team is defying logic at the moment.
