Tom Waits is one of those artists I can't believe I like, but I do
The more you listen to him the more you like his music....can't explain it  sitting on the porch with Waits on loud and a cold brewsky after a hard day's work on a warm day.....priceless.

RamsinLA - Tom Waits is one of those artists I can't believe I like, but I do. To top it off, Tom Waits is as good an actor as he is a musical artist.

Saw him at an outdoor concert in the early 80's. He opened for Judi Collins. My favorite song by him is 'Ol' 55.'

I wonder how many albums we share Primetime? I'm guessing over 500. Joni Mitchell contributed " Court and Spark" 'and "Blue" to my collection.

My ex turned me onto Joni. Saw her around 73-74. Tom Scott was the bandleader and Robben Ford was on guitar. What surprised me about her is what a great guitar player she was and still is. If any musician ever wondered why her songs are so hard to copy it's because of her intricate and often made up tunings.

I love reading interviews both old and new with Classic Rock musicians. I read one the other day from Joni that was done right after 'Court and Spark' came out. There's a treasure trove at this Rolling Stone link that goes all the way back to 1966.

Here's another one by her from the 'Court and Spark' album...

Speaking of Robben Ford, I found some stuff from '79 with the Yellowjackets. I saw these guys in high school!

I met these guys after a gig in Santa Clara some years back. Very cool and grounded guys. They play with a purpose not their own. (y)
