My favorite all time is Decade by Neil Young. I like so many of the albums listed in this thread but I have had that one on 8 track, cassette, vinyl, CD (twice), and is its own playlist on my phone.

Sounds like something I would have written (and probably have). I'm not a big fan of his recent stuff as he is really getting cliché-ish and political. But I've seen him 8 or 9 times and really love his stuff up to about Rust Never Sleeps, though I actually liked Hawks and Doves quite a bit. I saw him on his Everybody's Rockin' tour and he played for over 4 hours. He is best outdoors as far as I'm concerned. His early Everyone Knows This is Nowhere is one of my favorites too.

Agree with you. Outdoors is awesome. I seen him with crazy horse in Camden nj. And with CSNY in Camden also. Wow. If it wasn't for Dylan , Neil would def. Be my favorite. t for songwriting and delivering a message in a song. Dylan is king in my opinion.

Minus Palmer's disc?????????

Oh man we are gonna throw down.
No throw down necessary!

It wasn't that I didn't like it, but compared to what Lake and Emerson (especially Emerson) did on that album, Palmer kind of paled in comparison.

HUGE ELP fan growing up... Tull too.

Palmer story... actually met the man and shook his hand.

My son was in percussion in middle school. His Music Director's ife (who ran percussion) was a huge Palmer fan and told him that he (Palmer) was going to do a clinic at a local music store.
the man... doing a clinic for about 15 people. It was amazing! With that small a crowd, he took some time to talk to us and sign autographs (my son still has the magazine with his signature).

So, no disrepect to Mr. Palmer intended... still think he is the most talented drummer to have ever played (rock).

In fact, I believe Emerson and Palmer were the most talented (pure talent... you may not have liked the material but there is no denying the talent) musicians of their era.

I liked Carl Palmer too but he didn't make the cut here FWIW. Neither did Bill Bruford though which is silly. Ringo starr shouldn't be on this list either. The whole bracket is whack!

As for me(a drummer myself) I can't argue with Peart. In fact, if we were talking about rock drummers specifically, i'd argue all day against anyone other than Peart. Maybe if Bonham and Moon had lasted longer...eh i still don't think it would've mattered. :)

Indeed I am!
Moon, imo, is THE rock n roll drummer. It's about the attitude as much as the ability.

In the greatest drummers bracket, Moon, Baker, Carey and Pert all have a fair claim to the top spot. It's too hard to pick one and compare him to a master from another decade and genre. All very different, very worthy.

But for good old fashioned hotel trashin' R n' Fn' R drums, yeah... I'll take Moon.

I had a trauma back in 1994 in the high desert and they airlifted me into Palm Springs bob hope hospital where a Dr Ercoli saves my life - one day he came to visit me after I was in the clear and I told him how I was a musician and he went on to inform me that right before he operated on me he had operated on Ginger Baker

Ginger Baker, as it was told to me, was riding a horse naked when he got clobbered by a Joshua tree.
So I found it an honor that this doctor had handled Ginger Baker's guts on the same day he handled mine!!!!!

I also gotta say that John Densmore is one of my all time favorite drummers ever. Way too under appreciated imo.

That's excellent!

Have you seen the documentary that came out last year, Beware of Mr. Baker?
It's worth watching for sure!
