You find yourself stranded on a deserted island in the middle of the Pacific ocean. No people. No tv. No internet. No radio. No porn.

You are sitting on the beach in your ragged clothing, uninjured from the event that brought you to this beautiful, but lonely and desolate place where you will ultimately end your days on Earth. Depression is sure to set in. You start hoping that maybe a volleyball will miraculously wash ashore.

Suddenly, a beautiful, curvy, sexy Jeannie appears above you wearing nothing but a thong and headphones. You think to yourself..."This isn't so bad."

She speaks.
"You will never get off this island. Here you will remain for the rest of your natural life."

You think to yourself again..."Yeah yeah, yadda yadda yadda do we get to have sex or what?"

She then proclaims, "I have come here to grant you 10 full albums of music of your choosing. Choose wisely.
I also have just one more gift for you before i disappear back into the Heavens forever, leaving you alone for eternity among the sand, rocks, trees and ocean."

You're like "Yeah baby. Here we go. Give it up!"
She tosses you the headphones and vanishes.

What are your 10 deserted island discs of music?

I was just thinking about this as a topic of discussion the other day. My thought was to limit it to less than 10 though. I was thinking of a scenario where we were all together though. More like "What if each of us could only bring one or two albums to the party?" That really makes you think. But in my scenario we get to share the whole ROD library so it ends up a lot bigger than just 10 (even though "your" top 10 might not be completely accounted for). In your scenario you have to decide on the whole library. I'll have to think about my list of 10 but would ask posters to put your must have one or two's at the top of your lists. You don't necessarily have to rank them just if you could only have one or two. I'd like to collate everybody's favorites at the end for the ROD playlist. Hope you don't think I'm stepping on your thread, Mojo, I think its a great idea. Will get back later with my list.

Well you ARE hijacking my thread ya bum! :)
Lol but seriously, thats a good idea for another thread...sort of a community, cult gathering where we each bring one or two choices. I like that. It would be interesting to see what we come up with!

I already know a few of my 10 choices here, but i'm going to post them all together. I'll need some time too. The cool thing is we don't have to rank the 10 choices(thats too hard for me).

Will have to think about this big time, that is not an easy list to figure out.

Do greatest hits/compilation albums count?

I'd be alright with Jim Croce's albums Don't Mess Around With Jim and I Got A Name. I'd also want Enya's Greatest Hits. If I got my entire life on an island I would think I could learn how to distill something so I'll need Jimmy Buffett to take me to Margaritaville. Maybe some Hanson and Spice Girls to remind me that there are much worse places to be than a deserted island. I'd also like to have an audio book of Slaughter House Five.

Sorry dude. We'll do that another time then. I hear you about ranking them. Too hard. Here's my 10 and I went ahead and bolded my (*Must have ROD island picks) . :sneaky:

I chose tons of Jeff Beck music because he is an artist that I can just never seem to tire of his work no matter how many times I listen. Willie Nelson never gets old to me either so I picked my favorite of his albums "Stardust" and a double disk set that has a huge compilation of his work. Rounding it out is a soundtrack from the video games Fallout 3 and the New Vegas expansion (I'm assuming I can get both sound tracks on a disk set). May sound odd but it’s a compilation of songs from the 30's and 40's as well as Vegas stuff that, again, I can easily listen to over and over without growing tired of.

Jeff Beck's Guitar Shop *
Willie Nelson - Stardust *

Jeff Beck - Blow by Blow
Jeff Beck - Wired
Jeff Beck - Who Else!
Jeff Beck - You Had It Coming
Jeff Beck - Jeff
Jeff Beck - Emotion & Commotion
Willie Nelson - The Essential Willie Nelson
Sound Track from Fallout 3 (including New Vegas expansion)

You didn't like it? Regardless of whether you have or haven't played it, or did and hated it, the compilation of music is fantastic.

Do anthologies/best of albums count?

It's Mojo's thread but it would seem like there are no restrictions on greatest hits/compilation albums. Either that or ask the genie who's granting you the wish.

Jeff Beck's Guitar Shop *

not to be nitpicky, but

A) never mentioned what type of player (CD,MP3,etc) she is going to give you

B) how do we power it?

or maybe the headphones are linked via bluetooth to "The Genie Cloud" and your choices stream from there, and just maybe the bitch has left guys stranded all over the place, and just likes to torture them by showing up in nothing but a thong and a smile

Hmmm....

Use your imagination. Best of compilations are allowed. That was asked earlier. Has to be a true release though.
