Unless there was something super unusual going on in my life, yeah $10k is enough to get me off a flight.

Wish this was the standard.

Usually they offer a tenth of that or less, or a "voucher" for another flight

As long as I could get that broken up in 2 checks.
1 for say $2,500 that I'd tell the wife about, and a separate check for $7,500 that she wouldn't....
"Honey, I got bumped from my flight but good news, they gave me $2,500 for my trouble!!"

Kinda like the time I won 500 bucks at the casino and told my wife "Hey, I won a hundred bucks. I'll buy dinner". Then a new golf club mysteriously shows up at the door a few days later. :quiet:

It all depends if my wife is with me.

If she is - nope because she can barely handle a 2hr flight due to having MS

If she isn't and I wasn't in a hurry, then yeah I would.
