You can't count drops as completions, or Bradford would have been an all pro.

Well, if we play this game, if our WRs weren't total shit and the o-line a revolving door with free admission for the opposing D, he'd still be the Rams QB. Probably with a winning season.

I don't disagree. Our Oline looks better now, but the WRs still aren't good at all.

Fisher had no intention on starting Goff to begin the season.
Drops or not, the kid never had a shot.
Short term, maybe it's for the best that he sits and learns a la Mannion.
Long term, how can you truly evaluate a player's potential production when you have him playing with a bunch of scrubs?
As the coach, you're not doing yourself any favors trying to evaluate him under those conditions.
You're definitely not helping build his confidence when you set him up to fail early on.
Meanwhile, Dak freakin' Prescott is being anointed the next savior of Cowboy football in Dallas.
As much as I hate the Cowboys, Garrett understands how to operate an offense and the importance of giving your potential replacement quarterback reps with the starters.

The sooner FIsher is gone the better. Im tired of this garbage offensive scheme he wants to run. Hes completely out of reality with todays NFL. Gurley likely wont make it through the whole season I hate to say. Im fine with Keenum starting and Goff sitting but Mannion as the #2? Mannion isnt very good. Goff was setup to fail all pre-season.

I just dont get the hate on Mannion, he has looked much better than Goff and its not even close, Goff has made some good throws but they are so few that im holding my breathe at evey snap just hoping he catch the ball. Fisher is definitely hampering the offense thats why i didnt like the trade for Goff in the first place

You know this is also about ball protection. Goff has been especially worrisome in this regard. I guess you could say it's all rookie type stuff, but my vote is for Mannion over Goff right now. Preseason or not Mannion is outplaying Goff. Remember, Mannion is getting zero time with the ones. It's bad when I'd prefer almost anyone to Goff right now. How many points has Goff indirectly or directly created for the opposing team. I think Goff has some ability, but let's get him in the weight room and get the kid a sandwich. I still worry about his hands under center. Fumbilitis is a bad thing. Goff needs to bulk up; and we need to give him some time to adjust. Throwing him to the wolves is a bad idea, IMHO. Btw: whomever is throwing to Spruce is gonna look good.

Update: 4 more drops. Conservatively, Goff should have been10/16 in this last preseason game. That based on him owning overthrows to Higbee, tough ball at Quicks feet, two tipped balls, etc.

There is actually a Sacramento sports talk show right now asking the question: If Goff was not the #1 overall pick, does he even make this team?!!!

 What??!! People, do you see the injustice happening to this young mans reputation? It is bordering on lunacy.

To the point that I am doubling down on my post question. I do feel good about Keenum, but I would also see the argument to starting Goff.

I didn't answer the poll question because I honestly don't know. But I do think, without all the drops, the perception of him would be much, much different. It would be more "he's a rookie making great progress, with a few hiccups (to be expected at this point) here and there."

I think the Rams had a plan in place before they even drafted Goff. The plan was probably to sit Goff and let him learn/develop at his own speed, and let Keenum play now because he has a good grasp of the offense and can "manage the game" and not have the rookie mistakes.

I still believe that there's a chance Goff plays this season. And I think his chances of starting next season are nearly 100%.

I agree. If we're not careful - Fisher and his conservative bull crap offense is going to ruin the best years of Gurley. He's a thoroughbred racehorse - not a cart horse and should be used as such. If we wanted a bell cow he should have drafted Derrick Henry this year in the second and used that first on a WR or BPA instead of picking Goff and pick a QB next year instead, seen as we're redshirting Goff anyway.

I am extremely worried that our offense will lean on Gurley too heavily. He shouldn't be used as a 20 carry a game up the gut guy - but as a threat on any play to take it the distance which must be respected, and an elite stud to break the game open. As I said - think racehorse, not bell cow.
