Honestly, who cares if a player is or isn't gay?

The NFL is investigating.

What's particularly troubling is that the NFL has ALREADY issued guidance that these questions are absolutely, 100 percent verboten. Period.

So, whoever did it was asking to have their team punished and in this case, if it was an assistant like when the Falcons did it two years ago, they run the risk of being fired.

If they find out who did it, and that's not seeing as Guice wasn't sure who asked due to the timing of the interviews, the NFL WILL punish that team pretty severely.

Especially due to the nature of the anti-trust exemptions and language in the current CBA regarding federal law, the LAST thing the NFL wants is a lawsuit from a prospective draftee alleging the league condones the rampant and open violation of federal employment law.

There are umpteen ways to shock, stress or probe potential draftees with questions without violating federal law.

It's wrong, prejudicial (remember the special teams coach from the Vikes who told Chris Kluwe that he'd like to see all homosexuals be put on an island and then have the island be nuked to glass), and gives no real information.

Oh, and there are already gay people in the NFL. Playing. Now. It's not like these questions are "keeping out the gays", cuz...no. Gay players have been in the NFL since the 60s and it's not going to change.

Not sure if you talking to me or the group lol. I just answered a question.

Just curious, is it illegal for them to ask a draftee if " Do you have or have you ever had sex with your mother?"

Is this question illegal or inappropriate? or both?

This just points out the ongoing idiocy of scouting. People interviewing people who, in almost all cases, do things the interviewer could never do.....over thinking it and presuming they know and are the smartest guys in the rooms....dealt with this with college baseball coaches....biggest group of empty headed vapid douchebags Ive ever encountered in my life.

In a direct job interview, it would be illegal, iirc.

However, because it's not a direct job interview (which is obviated because the NFL has anti-trust exemptions which allow a draft), it's murky.

However, to avoid getting Congress involved, the NFL became a private corporation recently AND sent out firm guidance that they WOULD be adhering to Federal employment law including as pertains to hiring which includes the interview process.

So, even it it's illegal, technically, it's against the NFL's rules...explicitly so.

And we all know how much this Commish likes it when teams openly defy him...

In the case of Michael Sam, he was open about his sexuality, but he just wasn't good enough to stick in the NFL. But, would he have been chosen higher if not for his sexual orientation. Guice looks to be the second best RB in the draft. It will be interesting to see if he is drafted as such.

I feel the same about our local high school baseball coaches and most of the players. In my area of PA, baseball is like this bizarre click. It's not a very prominent sport here. The coaches and players are very arrogant and stick together in a closed group, and baseball is the only thing most of them have/had going for them. It's like they are so consumed baseball that it runs their lives, and if you don't know baseball they don't care to converse with you.

So now it looks like there's a good chance that his never actually happened. Guice can't/won't identify what teams asked these questions, or even keep his story straight about what the questions were.

This is pretty disturbing if it was made up. What kind of person intentionally tries to harm the integrity of an organization he's about to join?

Whether it was asked or not, I dislike him going to the media about it. It would factor in to my willingness to invest draft capital on him.
