So I listen daily to the two southern california sports stations Am710 and 570. While I'm not really happy with how often they talk football (almost never) but when they do talk about it I'm all ears!

I'm trying to figure out why they talk so much shit on the Rams??? It seems like every sports announcer hates the Watkins trade because of what we gave up. They ALL HATE GOFF, I mean there's not really a single one of them that stands up for him. It's kind of disgusting tbh, while they don't have to actual Rams fans it would be nice to hear something positive for once.
I also realize that we went 4-12 last year and it wasn't pretty. But they are still acting like this is the same old regime and Fisher is still calling the shots.

We haven't had a .500 season since 2006. We haven't had a winning season since 2003. We haven't made the playoffs since 2004. It's going to be trendy to hate on the Rams because they fail to prove the media people wrong year after year. These people just want attention and not to have to put their foot in their mouths. They aren't getting paid to give real and in-depth analysis (for the most part).

If you go out on a branch, you risk looking stupid. Very few of them have enough guts or confidence in their ability to evaluate the game to take that risk.

It's easy for people to hate on a team that never wins or always 'sucks'. And that's how people view us and all our players. People that aren't Rams fans don't understand or know the things that us Rams fans do. It's whatever. Hope Rams prove em all wrong.

for a few years in a row the talking heads were jumping on the Rams bandwagon hyping the team up with lines like"

They've turned the corner
They have a decent QB now(Bradford)
They have a shot at the NFC West
The Rams will give Seattle a battle for the division
etc etc etc

and all the Rams did was stink up the joint

Sports reporters have learned their lesson and remember their mistakes

Heres to them being wrong again this year

Meh. The team isn't as bad as 4-12. Last year a lot of things went wrong.

I don't get worked up over what the media (of all people) says. Besides...

The fact is, not one of these guys has given any time to research the rams. They saw last year's lamelites and hear other doubters speak and just regurgitate what they heard.
There is some tone changes. But nobody thinks Goff is going to be good. So the rams still suck.

Honestly its easier to criticize and be negative than it is to applause and be positive especially if people have too much pride. Like Jrry said its a trend that has been ongoing for so long that its damn near only natural to be negative. Its a show me year for the Rams.

This is how i see it too. None of these guys actually offer any in depth look at any of the positions. It's just oh he looked bad last year. The offense was terrible. Goff doesn't look like a real QB. There's more but it's pretty much all the same.

I remember when they were in STL those guys would break down game film, compliment players that were doing a good job, and those who were doing bad. I miss that!!!

I can totally understand where they're coming from. But what I don't understand is they aren't looking at all the intangibles. Fisher was running the show. For 5 years he had a different OC and every year the Offense looked exactly the same. No matter who the QB / WR's / Oline / RB were it resembled what we saw from years previous.
It's almost like they still think he's here. His spirit lives on! He'll haunt this team for the next 10 years because of how far he set us back!!!
Well I don't see it that way. Every year there's a team that comes out of no where and flips the switch. The Seahawks did it, Tampa bay, Falcons, and the list goes on. Most of those teams had one thing in common. New coaching hires! I'm not saying it's going to happen for the Rams but this is the time of year to be stoked on what we've done. And we've actually done a lot and have done it well (i think)

TBH I don't really mind the trash talk on the Rams, but have some proof! Or better yet break down some practice or tape and tell us exactly why you think that. It's lazy lazy journalism at it's finest in LA.

I totally agree with you. They bash Goff constantly, especially Keyshaun Idiot Johnson. They all build up LaVar Ball like he is the next Michael Jordan and he hasn't even played a game yet. Well my take is that Goff will prove them all wrong and shut them all up. Go Rams!

If you can catch Eric Davis on the radio...he's the best analyst out here on the radio for us...but he's an ex-9er....

Sometimes you hear Demarco....

Most times its Wiley....Marcellus....and they are all in show me mode...Goff needs to give these analysts hope...

"I feel great where I am right now," Goff said. "I am happy with where I am. But I am by no means content. I am going to continue to grow and get better."

As he walked away from out chat, you could tell this truly was a kid who believes in himself. There was no hesitation when he was asked if he thought he would be a star down the road.

"Yes," he said. "Don't you have to believe that?"
Trust me....everyone knows our defense is something special...esp. with Donald, Tree, Barron...and those DL's and OLB's...looking menacing.

The truly shocking thing to me is all the hate on Goff. For me his "grade" last year was incomplete.

I feel like even the stupid media talking heads advise to wait a few years before judging a player - but I've heard a TON of "analysts" say Goff is a bust. Crazy.

This is the heart of the problem with the media. They just don't want to do a deep dive of all those NFL rosters plus coaching changes and try to draw a prediction that has some rationale to it.

It's why every year they predict the same teams to win, with maybe a darkhorse here and there and usually those darkhorses finished middle of the pack too. Like the Rams squads that got all that love since they were near .500 ball the two previous years to Fisher's 4-12 demise.

Very few media types do the work. Plain and simple. And those that do are just as bad as fans with skewed takes based on preconceptions that are often in line with the media groupthink. So F them. This is why the Rams are poised to shock a lot of people, they won't see us coming this season.

Honestly, it goes beyond the sports world and exists in every day society. Social media, regardless of the type, allows people to become "faceless." Radio is not much different other than someone has a microphone. But enough of my mini rant. I agree with Steezy, this is a show me year. Need to see some big strides.

Because they don't actually watch the games.
