4 penalties in one game.

Sure tackling with arms actually wrapping up ball carriers.

Resilience over adversity.

No dropped passes.

The starting quarterback played the whole game.

Referees corrected a bad call.

The offensive coordinator made adjustments that worked.

Lamarcus Joyner knew what he was doing.

Rams off to a strong start.
_______________

What was the same:

Subpar blocking.

Terrible calls by the refs (roughing on Quinn, no PI on Sherman)

Game changing turnovers.

Missed gaps in run defense.

Seachickens suck.

Agree on a lot of your points this team is growing up.And with a lot of the players entering their prime it's going to be a damm good team. If we follow up with a win at Washington like we should we have definitely turned a corner.

The one glaring improvement over last year: 3rd qtr adjustments. Last year the 3rd qtr was a disaster, out-scored and out-coached. Much better 2nd half and I hope the trend continues.

Preseason to me, means nothing other than hard working guys trying to make the 53 or PS. I never flinched once. We are ROD and know our shit.

Thanks for the topic @leoram

I think the Run D did pretty good. Besides 1 long run, Lynch didn't have much running room.

Cohesion and execution on more plays....It's gonna get better & better....Less blown plays...Looked like a lot more effort from some vets too....

4 penalties....major bonus here. I was fully expecting the Rams O line to pile up penalties, after Saffolds false start on the 3rd offense play they were fine. I didn't even mind Robinsons hold, it protected Foles from being blindsided. I can't remember the last time the Rams had fewer penalties in a game than their opponent. The importance of continuing this trend cannot be overstated.
Residency as well. That start would have derailed a lot of teams.

loving that we're 1-0 this year.

Agree with all your points (I think the penalty count and having a healthy starting QB were the big differences) but I'll also add:
  • that the defence looked ready to play in game 1, not after a bye week ;)

Very good point! But, it seemed like the entire team was ready to play in game 1!

They still let me down, my watermark for what I expect is 13 points per game, they gave up 17...oh well nothing left to do but hold Washington to 9 .

I was disappointed by that too, but for a change the Offense (and Foles) took control and just kept on outscoring them :)

And, barring injuries, this team should just get better and better with every week that goes by and they get more time to work together!

Good points. What'd Lamarcus Joyner do that proved he knew what he was doing? I didn't hear his name called much, but maybe I just forgot. Examples though?

He got a sack on Wilson. Covered really well. Had about seven tackles.

One thing that stood out to me was losing the turnover battle, yet winning the game. I'm not trying to make comparisons by saying this, but I haven't seen that since the Martz/GSOT era.

This one of the best analysis I have ever seen: Video of the final drive in the 4th quarter with GIF video of each play;
From Aneas1 from Rams talk:
http://interact.stltoday.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=1131972

One thing I especially noticed was the 3rd and 15 play to Britt. He noted Tavon was open underneath short of the sticks, but Nick waited and Britt broke off his route for the 1st.

How many times in the past have we seen that ball get dumped to Tavon short, rather than waiting for something to develop and taking a chance down-field?

Seeing that play from that view gave me one hell of an appreciation for what Nick did on that play.
