Great post @leoram
Thanks for sharing with us all. I like when our own guys write a well worded post. We know our team better than most national writers,

I am cautiously optimistic about Peters. I love that Snead is not stagnant. He stays busy. Keeps planning for success.

I don’t know which picks we will lose from the Peters trade, but something tells me the Rams are not done adding and shifting picks for 2018.

I personally think we use the draft to build our oline. Vets are good to have but not good to have sit on the bench. I dont see anyone beating out any of our guys for the starting oline job, so anyone we grab is going to be back up. Best to grab a stud out of college and groom him and pick up a large NT in free agency. Again, just my opinion.
Grab a "stud" when?
If the Rams traded away the third pick that means the soonest an OL would be picked is the 4th round, assuming we have that pick.
Fourth round on is generally projection guys. Projecting for depth or guys that take time or have holes in their games. First round picks are drafted to start.
So, it's a tough sport in a way.

I can see Snead trading down in the first round, or out of it, to pick up additional picks in the second or third round. Draft OT, DT and ILB on day two and three

Youre assuming there's not any hidden gems after the 3rd rd. Plenty of examples of players who were hidden gems. But we didnt trade our third so its not worth conversing over.

I agree, plenty of examples, but, your plan basically devolves down to find "studs" in later rounds....draft exceptionally well.....um, ok.
what did we give up?

Now that the " Cat's-Out-of-the-Bag" on the Picks we gave up, and received, I'm sure you're right!! Snead / McVay are not finished 'Wheelin' and Dealin'' By any stretch yet!(y)(y);):D

We gave up a fourth and next years 2nd. So you agree we find a good player in FA and sit him? Seems you keep obsessing over my choice of words to describe the player we would draft, would "good" be better for you?

Not obsessing over anything.
Thinking the team will pluck a stud/great/good/starter out of the later rounds isent very practical. But hey, we have our first and our third, so it is all fantastic as far as I'm concerned. Snead picked their pockets.

Excellent post @leoram - the Rams are now a contender, and I think we'll see players wanting to play for the Rams, this may result in reduced contracts, but at the end of the day money talks. You have to applaud McVay in creating a team that has an exciting style of play, a team that is enjoyable to watch AND IMO probably enjoyable to play on.

The Marcus Peters trade is a huge one for us, I don't care what's been given up in picks, he's definitely improved our CB position.

I think last offseason they went all out to fix the O - this year it looks like Phillis is getting to pick his pieces early. It'll be interesting to see what TruJo does now, I know he's mentioned several times that he loves playing in LA for the Rams, would he do it for a huge cut? Or will he be traded for extra picks?

NT - I agree we need a specialist NT, but I see us picking up someone before the draft - this team wants to win now, and will do what it takes. I see us using the draft to develop depth.

I’m like, “who’s Phillis?”

Don’t mind me, I’m on day nine of this migraine and even 20mg hydrocodone is barely keeping it in check...

There’s a couple of possibilities.

1) Johnson from Iowa falls to us and we snag a top 10 talent.

2) targeted players are gone and we trade down for a 2 & 3, take an NT like Tim Settle and with one of the 3s, grab an ILB.

There are a couple outside rushers and a NT or two that has a very slight possibility of falling. AND DON'T DISMISS SNEAD USING A PACKAGE TO MOVE UP TO GET A FALLING GUY THEY LIKE!

I don't know that we could get a 2 and 3 for pick 23 but I would love to pick up a couple of picks if someone wants to jump up with us.

Nope. Only version that works for me is the nasal version and I don’t think they make it anymore. Also, it would only work if I took it within 10 mins of onset.

Basically, once they start, I’m stuck riding it like a bull named Tornado until the bull gets tired.

The hydrocodone seems to have slowed things down, but if he gets a second wind... gonna have to hit up the ER for Dilauded...

Lord, I hate the way opiates make me feel. I don’t get high, just feel thick and the stronger the opiate, the harder it is to breathe and the worse the nausea...

But we got Peters, so I’d call that a net positive!

Ouch - get that checked out my friend...

Apologies for the Auto Correct Typo - McVay often gets changed to McCoy on my machine I'm sure McCoy and Phillis would be an awesome 1-2 punch as NFL coaches - I guess we'll have to do with McVay and Phillips for now....
