One would have to have stopped drinking to have *been* drinking.

Maybe I should have been specific. We must protect the RECORD. Which, as it turns out, resides in this house. We need the D-line to bring some Terry Taint pain to AP and make him rely on some other stepping stone of a team if he wants a piece of ED2105.

I kept his stats the year he set the record in a spiral notebook. Bought the Monday and Tuesday papers so I could get the right numbers.... No Internet back then.

Eric Dickerson is my favorite Ram of All-Time,, and favorite football player of All-Time as well.

You young wippersnappers would shit your pants if you were able to see ED2105 run the ball. Nobody did/does it better.

That's a fact Jack. We always hear about no hole to run through and that kind of stuff. ED made his own holes and he LIKED it. And there is no joke there.

ED looked like an antelope once he got going. He would run over, around, and through you. He almost looked like he was standing straight up while running yet would lay you out. It was a thing of beauty! :yessir:

Yep. He simply glided.

There have only been 4 running backs since I've been watching the game that I thought were just ridiculous.
Dickerson, Sanders, Campbell & Faulk.

You'd probably add Bo Jackson if he wouldn't have lost his hip and AP if he wasn't playing the Rams Sunday but still a very elite group.

He might have been a bit before your time X, but Lawrence McCutcheon could run with the best of them in his time. During the 5 consecutive years that the Rams won their division (73-77) McCutcheon (known back then as Lawerence of Los Angeles), averaged 5.2, 4.7, 4.3, 4.0 and 4.2 yards a carry respectively over that period and gained an average of 1,105 yards per year (over a 14 game schedule), he also played in all but 3 games over that same 5 years.

For his 8 years as a Ram he averaged 4.3 yards a carry, gained 6,186 yards rushing and 1,683 receiving. Dickerson on the other hand had hands of stone and I personally witnessed him drop more easy passes in the back field than I can count. I'm not suggesting that Dickerson wasn't an incredible runner because he was. But, he also was running behind a line build expressly for him, but then again he couldn't catch for beans.

Dickerson was a one trick stallion, oh he could glide, but he couldn't catch, while McCutcheon was a War Horse...outside of Faulk, McCutcheon remains my favorite Rams running back.

ED never looked like he was even in a full sprint. Just a long gate that ate up MAD yds with every stride. Definitely a one trick pony, but he was like Houdini with that trick. Faulk is still my all time favorite Ram, at any position, but Dickerson is in my top 5.....or maybe 10.

Those pics bring back great memories.

In addition to being the "prettiest" runner to ever grace the football field ...
Eric sure made that Jerry Curl look good too.

Hard to believe he could keep his helmet from slipping off on every tackle .

Oh man, the D should all come out with those goggles to show their respect for ED. BTW, I like how the first reply to the OP was, "have you been drinking?" Is Paul developing the rep as a boozer?

lol. I can't drink like I used to. My liver would just get up and walk away.
In my 20's, I didn't even use glasses, cans, or bottles. I just poured that stuff into a funnel.
Now if he had asked if I was smoking, then that would be a different matter entirely.

I gotta move to Washington. Looks fun over there now. :p

Yeah,,, he even made those hideous goggles look cool.

Especially when he added the yellow above the nose to go with the horns on the helmet .

If you remember , he also wore EVERY type of protective pad made. Hell , I think he may have been the only player to ever wear some of the pads he had.

Cool beyond compare.

Don't fret guys. Making my first Rams game this weekend in STL and there's nothing I hate more than ViQUEENS, maybe Seahawks. I'll shut that shit down on my own.

would be nice if Rams :

1) Hold Peterson in check
2) open holes on the o-line for SJ to get his 10k yards
3) win

chance are they accomplish 1 and 2 and #3 will happen
