I have been a Rams Fan since the Roman Gabriel/Deacon Jones/Merlin Olsen days and I honestly don't know if I have ever been this excited about an upcoming Rams season! The moves that McVay and Snead have made are absolutely stunning and I think the Rams will be a real force next season and will definitely be a team to be reckoned with by the rest of the NFL Teams! The 2018 NFL Season can NOT get here soon enough!

Funny, I guess as Ram fans most of us have tempered enthusiasm. Last year was great, but I really wanted one post season victory to get McVay off to a good start and as good as the off season has been, some of us again are cautiously optimistic because of giving up draft capital and still no long term deals for the likes of Aaron Donald or anyone else.

Now, if the Rams are able to extend Cooks & Donald before training camp, that will add to the enthusiasm and quiet some of the masses, who have questioned the Rams objective. Overall, it beats sitting idly by and I have felt for years, people put too much weight into draft choices, but again, if Cooks gets an extension, it was worth the pick, combined with a Donald extension will have many of us feeling as smooth as a prom queen's thighs.

After the nonchalant no hurry attitude of the Fisher Snead run Rams, I for one have been happy with the no reason to wait till next year attitude of the McVay Snead run Rams. I think what they have done is adapt to the opportunities that have arisen this off season. I think that they have not made these moves without understanding what they mean in the following years. They probably talked risk reward, what happens if we can't sign, who is available in the draft that can help and best and worst case scenarios. These are very calculating people and while this could blow up in there faces in more than one way, this definitely beats sitting around a taking the old school approach of the past. It is worth the risk.

Go ahead and temper your enthusiasm, I also am aware of the possible bad outcomes, but I will choose to enjoy this while it happens and deal with the disappointment if and when it comes.

Agree completely. But what gets overlooked sometimes is that in the NFL there is risk all the time. Things can go to hell for a team at almost any time due to injuries or inability to resign a key player given that one team can always bid above market price. Doing nothing is a also far bigger risk, or perhaps a certainty of mediocrity, than being opportunistic and aggressive.

Also overlooked is that the Rams worked hard for years to frontload the cap to put themselves in a position to spend now. And similarly with their drafting, getting a core of great young players (Donald, Gurley, Goff, Joyner, Brockers, Hekker, Zuerlein, Pharoah, Kupp etc.) So the ability to load up the team with the great players we have just added wasn't an accident. It was a product of some great drafting and smart management which has enabled them to shift gears now.

On paper we are in the discussion for a Super Bowl run. Get the chemistry going early, stay as healthy as possible, and the ultimate finish line is so close you can see it!

Before any of the off season moves started happening I said to a friend (Raider fan) that I felt Rams were close enought that I'd feel comfortable starting to put money on them to win it all every year once the odds came out. Truthfully I was in Vegas last summer and wanted to put money down on the Rams to win it all - the odds were insane.

But now after our moves I feel like the Rams are going to have odds in their favor when they come out to put bets down.

For so long I just wanted them to come home to L.A. But deep down I knew that was only half the battle--I wanted them to become perennial always-in-the-mix winners again too. McVay inspires to me to believe we are truly back.

It was 1971 3rd grade and time to pick a favorite NFL team for trading football cards. The horns and Roman Gabriel stood out - been a Rams (LA-STL-LA) fan ever since. The 70s/80s were very respectable. Then came the near 30 year death march across the desert (finding a 3 year oasis with the GSOT). As a homer for life now - when there is success it is that much sweeter due to the long bouts of suffering. The difference now is that the entire organization (owner, FO, coaches, players) looks fully engaged and collaborative in pursuit of a sustaining top NFL team. I feel confident in saying that LA has a chance to join the ranks of NE/Dallas/Pittsburg/GB - expecting greatness and regularly achieving greatness!!

I just bought an Nvidia Shield streaming box from someone in my neighborhood who's making a business of configuring the boxes and selling various remotes.

Can't believe the picture and how fast the box functions. It actually works faster than my cable box AND I get everything...and I do mean everything...for $15/mo.

I don't really need the directv feeds because I get a bunch of every local station in HD, so if nothing else, I can watch the LA Fox/CBS/NBC feed or another feed if their blacked out. But I get it, anyway.

I'm gonna verify that I get the UFC feed tonight, but I'm pretty sure I do.

It's crazy how cool this thing is for like no money. Only reason I'm not fully canceling my FiOS tv (never getting rid of the FiOS internet unless someone else sells cheap ftth) is because I want the wife to get comfy using it and so we can take the time to fully get rid of our "land line". The only reason we got it is because it had a battery backup so we could use it when the power went out like the old copper lines, but when Frontier bought out Verizon in FL, they took away the battery backup so no reason to have the phone anymore.

And I know it's legal because it's basically the same as the Sling boxes... except less per month and faster response.

For those who know KODI, it's like that, but with a better app.

Anyway, I got it because no way do I want to miss a second of this season!

OP, I too fell in love with the Gabriel, Olson Era. I was in a department store on a Sunday, I was maybe 11(1969), the TV section had all TVs tuned to a Giants/Rams game and I fell in love with the Rams helmets. As far as looking forward to a season it was 1973 with Chuck Knox and Eric Dickerson, and sure enough 12-2.

Those helmets man. I pray they never try to change it.

Another old-time Ram fan here... I think my first season was when the Rams went 11-0, then lost the last three and lost to Minnesota in the ice-cold playoff game. Back then the Rams were a perennial winner but, like someone said... except for the GSOT, it's been a tough 30 years. Last season was like the second coming of the GSOT, and this season looks even better. It is indeed a very exciting time for Ram fans... Lord knows we waited long enough! But let's not start sucking each other off until we win a few games. lol

When it comes to heart and soul and fandom....the amazing high's of pinnacle victories also brings those indescribable gut punches of defeat. The higher the expectations and the closer the ultimate summit of a championship gets...the risk of having your heart ripped out gets higher as well. That's just how it works for me.

Four days will forever be etched into my sports soul.

'99 Rams super bowl win
'01 AZ Diamondbacks world series title

'93 Phoenix Suns loss to the Bulls in game 6
'02 Rams super bowl loss to the Patriots

Losing hurts me more than the thrill of victory. I too am not over that super bowl loss to the Patriots. Looking forward to a lot less losing in 2018!
