The Los Angeles Rams are working out QB Blake Frohnapfel, a UDFA out of Massachusetts:

Frohnapfel, who transferred from Marshall to Massachusetts after the 2013 season, was as Wilson indicated in his tweet invited to tryout with the Colts about a month ago. They instead went with QB Josh Woodrum, a clipped UDFA from the New York Giants, to fill out the back of their QB depth chart.

The question is how Frohnapfel would fit into the Rams' QB plans.

Clearly, rookie QB Jared Goff has the reins in the long term and medium term. If he doesn't in the short term, that likely goes to Case Keenum who Head Coach Jeff Fisher and General Manager Les Snead backed as the starting QB from the end of the 2015 season until the trade with theTennessee Titans for the #1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. That move pretty much undercut their public statements, though if you're still putting much stock into their public statements, nothing I can say is going to adjust your gullibility at this point.

Somewhere in the mix is Sean Mannion, a human being who is somewhere on this Earth per Snead.

Nick Foles, who just received a $6m bonus in March, isn't showing up to work. His head coach doesn't really mind either. Good work if you can get it.

So where does Frohnapfel fit? Who knows.

His twin brother, Eric, can at least lend him some guidance as a UDFA who clicked with the San Diego Chargers a year ago before heading off into the non-NFL world.

I guess the real question is, does the tryout suggest something amiss with a Foles-Keenum-Mannion trio at least according to the Rams' front office?

Phew, good thing Bradford isn't still here, he'd probably request a trade...

OVERVIEW

With Rakeem Cato eating up playing time at Marshall, Frohnapfel (pronounced FROH-nap-ul) decided to head to Massachusetts for his final two seasons. He excelled in his first year as a starter, earning first team All-Mid-American Conference recognition after throwing for 3,345 yards and 23 touchdowns despite missing the final two games of the year with an ankle injury. But NFL teams didn’t see much improvement in his consistency or accuracy in his final campaign (55.1 completion percentage in 2014, 56.4 in 2015) and his 16-13 TD-to-INT ratio last season kept him off all-conference teams.

ANALYSIS
STRENGTHS
Tremendous size and overall build for the position. Tall enough to see over the offensive line and has the thickness of frame to hold up physically. Senses pressure and slides around in pocket to open space. Showed poise dealing with poor snaps, yet staying on schedule. Won't drop his eyes when rush is in his face. Decent weight transfer and follow through into his throws. Can drop a Cover 2 throw in the bucket.
WEAKNESSES
Poor production with just 16 touchdown passes in 529 dropbacks. Threw entirely too many interceptions in the red zone. Stares down targets with white-hot intensity drawing a road map for linebackers to run right into interceptions. Makes too many decisions based on pre-snap alignment rather than post-snap reads. Plodding setup in the pocket and has a small windup leading into his slow release. Arm strength is nothing special. Doesn't have the escapability from the pocket. Poor accuracy on deep throws (25.9 percent).
DRAFT PROJECTION
Undrafted free agent
BOTTOM LINE
Frohnapfel might have NFL size, but he doesn't have enough arm to overcome the turnovers that could plague him thanks to his slow release and penchant for looking down targets. Maybe his size will get him into a camp, but unless he has a banner postseason, it’s hard to see his game tape getting teams excited.

Man, that last name is a nightmare.

Someone's family got screwed over at Ellis Island.
