The defense is always something you try to build on. Yes at the end the defense didn’t hold up against Atlanta, but how many turnovers , bad Field position , and not that many points.

Primary issue was their inability to stop the run. It was a problem all season long really and I guarantee it is an offseason priority. Early on they sucked at it, got better for a while, then reverted back to who they were. Our elimination vs Atlanta in the playoffs was largely due to the run defense and our offense's inability to get it done. They need to improve at NT and ILB at a minimum, but preferably will add some OLB depth too.

Second issue of course is restacking the secondary. They played pretty well, but depth was exposed and with Tru leaving they had to ensure quality was there. This is why the Peters move was so brilliant, if they'd given up more it still would have been a good deal. Now they only need to add a CB2 at a minimum in this CB deep draft. That CB1 slot being alleviated is just a huge move.

As CB Troy Hill looked excellent in the Falcons game. Peterson is a nice young DB.
—ThevPeters trade was huge. That CB1 position meant over paying Tru Johnson 2 years in a row.

It will be interesting to see the direction in the draft. I think OT will be drafted early.

Call me crazy, but what about shipping one of our FOUR 6ths to Denver in a Talib trade?

He’s near elite and fits Wade’s D like a glove.

No problems under Wade when he played for him before that I’m aware of.

He’s affordable at $11 million this year and only $8 million in ‘19.

We would have a beastly secondary. Maybe best in the league when factoring in Joyner and JJ. Not one weak spot, really. An opposing QB/DC’s worst nightmare, especially if their team fell behind.

Both MP and Talib combined would cost less than just Tru alone last year and with $4 million to spare.

S&M could focus on NT, LB, or OL with our top picks. Whoever is BPA that falls.

I think that Wade and our locker room can handle both MP and Talib. Winning greatly reduces frustration. Lol.

Like it and have mocked him to us and suggested making sure we get him instead of letting him hit free agency.

Why would we call you crazy when 80% of the mocks on the draft board have Talib as an addition? :p

Me personally: pass on Talib. We don't need two dudes with off field issues at CB. Get a young kid in there with some skills and grow it.

What issues has peters had off the field in the nfl? Just curious Bc I can’t think of any myself.

Arguing with/questioning coaches, but there are also rumors about locker room stuff. I mean the dude's stats are on par with guys like Deion Sanders for amount of time in the league. You don't get a guy like that without smoke being behind the fire.

I consider that stuff football related and not off the field. When I think off the field issues I think of run ins with the law and stuff of that nature. Lucky for us we have Wade Phillips and I don’t see peters questioning him much lol

Orlando Pace twice.

Aaron Donald twice ?

That’s what I’m saying though. The Rams just don’t throw the franchise tag around.

—Didn’t Tavon have a better season 3 seasons ago than Sammy Watkins ? I just know both didn’t have 1,000 yard seasons. It’s hard to believe with stats like that you can franchise them .

I'd rather see the 49ers dish out 19 mil a year for him. No way in hell he can defend woods or kupp.
25 mill. Make it happen JohnnLynch! In Lynch We Trust!

Of the free agents, the two guys I really hope we bring back are Joyner and NRC.

NRC is a great open field tackler and very good against screens.

Dominique Easley was going to be a starter for us but the guy could not stay on the field. We might be able to keep him for cheap if we decice that we want him to stay.

That will depend on what Kromer sees - remember he didn't like last year's O-Line group - I trust Snead / McVay / Phillips / Kromer etc to get the right fit for our team...

With regards to the OP of TruJo to the Raiders, could it be a package deal tat includes Justin Ellis their NT? He's not much use in Pass D but he's an immovable object against the run??

Tru will be a FA . There is no way to franchise him. McVay said something along the lines as The Rams are set on offense.Need defense ?
It’s becoming that time of year.
My point would be if they don’t sign Brown or Big Rob ?
I think McVay really likes Higbee & Everett. He even stated that. McVay seemed to run more WR sets than double TE’s.

I sure do hope they sign Big Rob & Brown - I know in the past he's complimented Brown as a player and a person, lets hope something can be done about retaining our o-line - success starts right there.
