Now it's your job to find our 1st round CB to replace Johnson.

I'd rather re-sign Johnson if his demands are reasonable and grab a NT in the first round or early second round (if we trade down). Then again, with how much NT depth there is, we might be able to add a CB in the first or early second and a NT in the third. Regardless, I think we need a big, disruptive presence at NT if we're going to continue with undersized LBs.

What I like, last week Kevin Peterson stood out, this week Troy Hill, encouraging play from our young CB's

Don't sleep on Blake Countess either. This guy is a devestating tackler. We need to sign Tru because we desperately need to draft instinctive, big, and fast linebackers. We get hurt every game by having linebackers that are out of position and a liability at tackling.

Well, yeah. And there's a reason I'm early banging the table for Da'Ron Payne.

He has the hand fighting skills to compete right away. He has a swim/rip move, which for an NT is almost unheard of. And his get off is legit, let alone someone of his size. Dude's not just massive, but he's an athlete.

I'm not really gonna spend much time on mocks until we have a better feel for how FA is gonna shake out, but yeah... we need someone at least as good as the Sylvester guy that Wade had in Denver.

Tim Settle and Da'Ron Payne are the two guys who interest me the most. I think at least one of the two is gone before we pick in the first round. Hopefully, both are not. I wouldn't be surprised if Settle flies up the board while Payne falls down it a bit because Alabama players almost always seem to drop due to the perception that they're maxed out.

Which suits me fine because even if he's maxed out, he could be a beast with Wade's D.

Did you guys forget that Hill had some rough ass games earlier this year. He hasn't played solid a full year. He got released and picked back up if I'm not mistaken? I think he has developed and overcome a whole lot but to call him solid is a bit of a stretch.

If Tru is close to being unreasonable he should sent packing.

I am VERY encouraged with our young secondary pool and their potential:
Hill
Peterson
Countess
Joyner
J. Johnson

Coupled with NRC and maybe Webster. I really feel we need to draft a top flight CB or get a solid FA to top the group off IMO. On to the DL then...

I was not liking Hill at all in 2016. This last year though, he really stepped up. I guess it took him a couple years to get comfortable. I think he has a good future here in the NFL.

He was on the roster every week but weeks 1 and 2 this year for us. He was inactive week 6 and 11. Started the last 4 for us and got better as the year went on.

I've always thought Hill could be a starter if he got his head on right. Wade Phillips has a way of getting the best out of players so not surprised to see him doing well. Plus, when you've got an Aaron Donald spooking QBs every play it makes your secondary look better a lot of the time. I'm not sure I'd rely on him as a 16 game starter yet but definitely nice to know we've got more depth than we thought we had a month ago.

I don't want to go all crazy on him based on a few games, but he's looked good since he came in for Web and maybe he's finally found his niche playing for Wade. I hope so, because I'm damn terrified by this offseason when I look at corner.
I think I'm not re-signing NRC, and moving Hill to the slot...save some money...we need guys that can go in and out. I think NRC is a lil better...but not by much...and Hill continues to get better and better.

We need to draft some speed at the corner for damn sure....seemed like Atl db's were all over the field....Liked both of them in the draft.

Agreed on the above. NT will be a top position at 23 when the Rams draft, in terms of grade. It has as good a chance as any to be the pick and it's a need.

Vea will probably be the first DT off the board, I think he's almost surely gone in the top 20 regardless of how things stack. Settle might go too, I have to watch some of his games tbh don't have too good a feel for him yet. But more and more I think there's a good chance Rams are looking at Payne vs the CB and some edge OLBs in terms of value when 23 rolls around.

If they want to address LT they're gonna have to move up. Barring that, I am pretty sure the NT, CB, OLB positions at a minimum are highly graded when we pick.

I've been hard on Hill.... but man he's gotten a lot better. Had quite a few good games later in the season. You can tell he's been coached well and he's putting in the work to improve.

If the QBs and WRs storm up toward the top of the first, the Rams may be choosing between Da'Ron Payne, who I'm cooling on now that I've watched more film but is still an amazing athlete and Josh Jackson, the amazing Iowa CB who's my #1 pick for the Rams in the draft... well, other than Bradley Chubb who's def going in the top 5. And yes, above Minkah Fitzpatrick or Arden Key.

So I'm gonna keep hoping the WRs and QBs keep storming up the board.

Well like @jrry32 pointed out the Bama dudes do tend to slide a little, or otherwise not get drafted where you initially think they will. This along with the general ability to find NTs into the midrounds should contribute to Payne being there at 23.

And yes chances are CB will have a helluva player available there, that's typically the case in most drafts late round 1 and this draft will be no exception. Also of late WRs definitely get snapped up/reached on as they seem to be pricier every year, and we can as always assume the LT types and QBs will gravitate sharply up as the media types catch wind of how the teams are slotting them.

IMO this is an important draft not only for Les, but also for McVay to put aside his offensive focus and get behind the defense gettin some TLC. So yeah we're pretty much on the same sheet of music wrt what we want. Invest in this defense, lower that PPG down well below 19, and watch this team run the MFing table.
