Rams Head Coach Jeff Fisher – Training Camp – July 27, 2014

(On DE Robert Quinn’s progression from last year to this year)

“Pass rushing is an art and you can get better at it. You can anticipate, you can get better with counter moves, get better on each opponent. He’s taking a lot of time, studying, and I think he knows how to approach each opponent week in and week out, he understands system very well. One would think he’d probably have better numbers than he did last year.”

(On if Quinn’s age is an advantage)
“It’s scary for offensive tackles, not scary for us. Yeah, he’s got a great future ahead of him. Obviously, he’s going to attract some attention and that but our defense is such that if they so choose to do that than either someone else going to come free or is someone else could take advantage of a 1-on-1.”

(On if he notices the interest on the team based on the attendance at camp)
“Well I think it’s a combination of a lot of different things. One obviously, what we’re doing. Two the way the organization handles the relationship with our fans and great time on this Sunday afternoon, Sunday evening and great weather. We appreciate them coming back. We hope they continue.”

(On his feelings about seeing Kurt Warner at Rams Park today)
“Yeah…No he’s fine. (Defensive Coordinator) Gregg (Williams) is the one chasing him and blitzing him right now all over the field.”

(On if he notices the attendance growing)
“It appeared to be a yeah, a good crowd. Capacity.”

(On QB Sam hitting a couple big passes today)
“Sam’s doing fine like you said. Three days in a row we don’t anticipate any issues. The ball’s coming off and spinning off his hands right now with some great throws. And at the other end of those throws were some good efforts and good catches.”

(On WR Kenny Britt’s performance in practice)
“Kenny, (Brian) Quick, everybody’s getting their opportunities. It’s hard, you just don’t have enough reps to go around with the one-a-day practices but the guys are taking advantage of it. Kenny’s a big target and he can make the tough catch like he’s shown the last couple days.”

(On special team practice tomorrow and what it means for players trying to make the team)
“We told our rookies when they came in, in the special teams meeting, our top three, four, five highest graded players, the last two years have all been rookies from a core special team’s standpoint, so the door is open. Some guys have left that were playing on teams that have not come back, so there are some spots available, so it will be very competitive the first day. Last year we put pads on for the first day in the special teams practice and we’re going to do that again. Shoulder pads will go on tomorrow, everybody involved in special teams will be out in the morning and anybody that’s not involved will be in the recovery phase inside at the same time.”

(On if LB Ray Ray Armstrong can move beyond his special team’s role)
“That would be the case with both (LB) Daren (Bates) and Ray Ray. Both of them were core guys for us last year, big play guys. They’re both settling in and making big plays on the defense.”
