(On being drafted by the Rams)
“It was very exciting. The calls picked up from the Rams, so I had a good feeling they were going to call me. As it was winding down, it was leaning toward the Browns and Rams, but I’m very happy that the Rams selected me.”

(On if the Browns showed interest in him as well)
“Yes sir.”

(On if he thought he had a good chance of being drafted by St. Louis)
“I heard from them not too much, but the less you hear I guess, that’s the better it is. I heard from them, so I knew they were on my radar. I had them as one of my tops. I’m glad they selected me.”

(On being drafted one spot after Michael Sam)
“He’s like a brother now. That’s my teammate. I can’t wait to meet him and let’s get the ball rolling.”

(On if he has any problems with having a gay teammate)
“No, not at all. He’s still a person. That’s my teammate. We’re ready to play some football.”

(On if he’s always been a center)
“Yes, this past season I played center. My junior year I played guard and my first year I played a little bit of tackle, but my most recent position was center.”

(On what this weekend was like for him)
“Exciting. It’s a first. It’s really exciting. It still hasn’t hit me yet, but it’s definitely a weekend to remember.”

(On if he was watching ESPN when he got drafted)
“Yes, I was watching on ESPN and NFL Network, so we had two TVs on.”

(On if he wondered if the Rams were going to call him right after they drafted Sam)
“I had just talked Les Snead a while before and he was telling me that they had two picks coming up and they were going to pick someone at 249 and I’d be right after that. I didn’t know it was Michael Sam, but I was very happy for him once they called his name.”

(On what he knows about the Rams offensive line)
“They’ve got some pretty good players. Their center, he was also drafted in the seventh round. I’m just ready to come in and compete and play some ball.”

(On if he knows Rams TE Jared Cook, with whom he shares an agent)
“Yes, I know Jared. He worked out done here at (inaudible). That’s where I trained. I’ve seen Jared just about every day.”

So, in other words, he's like Barrett Jones.

Actually, Rhaney's 6'2". Jones is 6'4". I see Rhaney as a backup center who can swing out to guard, while Van Dyk is our new developmental swing tackle.

I was referring more to him having experience at positions across the line. Though, I do think Jones is likely more versatile than Rhaney is.
