Rams Head Coach Jeff Fisher – Post-Practice – October 1, 2013

(On if it is good having LB Jo-Lonn Dunbar back on the team)
“Yes, he was permitted to come in to have a physical. Obviously, no contact until after the game was over last night. He’s really excited. We’re excited. We’re glad to have him. Good timing – we don’t know where (LB) Will’s (Witherspoon) going to be this week, so it’s good timing.”

(On if Dunbar was allowed to attend team meetings during his suspension)
“Absolutely not. There’s a significant difference between both the suspensions. When you have the performance enhancing, the competitive suspension, there’s no contact permitted whatsoever. Now even though that he was not technically on our roster, no one is permitted to have contact with a player that’s under that suspension’s guidelines. Now the other one, the substance abuse, they are permitted to be in the facility and do everything except for practice.”

(On if Jaguars WR Justin Blackmon was under different circumstances)
“Justin Blackmon, completely different. He was there every day, I’m sure, and should be. It’s similar to (RB) Isaiah’s (Pead) where Isaiah was permitted to be here and not practice.”

(On if Dunbar is in good shape)
“He’s fine. He’s in good shape, yeah. I teased with him. He was in early trying to work out and we couldn’t because we had to get the deal done, and I asked him if this is the first time he worked out since he left. But, no, he’s been working out very hard.”

(On how he plans to replace S T.J. McDonald in the lineup)
“From a competitive standpoint, we’ll start two safeties this week. We did have to let (T) Max Starks go to create the spot for Jo-Lonn. We appreciate his effort and everything. He was great to have in the locker room for a couple weeks. Then, we made a practice squad roster move. We released (FB) Eric Stevens and signed (CB) Darren Woodard back because we need legs in the secondary.”

(On if WR Emory Blake is back on the practice squad)
“Yes.”

(On how LB Ray Ray Armstrong played against the 49ers)
“He was physical. He was active, not necessarily correct, but he’s instinctive and he can go. So, we’ve got something there. We just have to bring him along.”

(On how T Mike Person is picking up the offense)
“He’s picking up things well – all the guys. ‘Bou’ (Offensive Line Coach Paul T. Boudreau) does a great job with the back-ups. He’s picking up things well. Tomorrow we’ll plan on putting shoulder pads on and it’ll be his first opportunity to practice in front of us with pads on.”

(On how far away RT Rodger Saffold is from being back on the field)
“Rodger’s progressing. He’s doing well. He’s progressing. As far as his expected return, no.”
