(On recent change to the roster)
“We made a roster move on the practice squad and we elevated (S) Quinton Pointer to the active roster to take (S) Matt Daniels’ spot. We signed Saalim Hakim, who is a receiver, to the practice squad. Last week, during the week (WR) Nick (Johnson) got banged up a little bit and so we needed the legs there. There you have it.”
(On WR Saalim Hakim’s speed)
“Yes, ask (CB) Cortland (Finnegan). Cortland said, ‘Where’d you get that guy? He ran by me three times.’ Yes, so he can really run. He was with the Cowboys when he came.”
(On the team’s decision to elevate Pointer as opposed to bringing in a new player)
“’QP’ knows what we’re doing. He’s a fine special teams player and he fits in well. He’ll step in and he can fit in and take over for everything that Matt (Daniels) was doing for us.”
(On what he wants to get out of the team over the second half of the season)
“Well, we emphasized the improvement through the bye week, the obvious areas that we speak about. We’re continuing to talk about improvement. We’ve got our hands full this weekend. This is our biggest challenge to date. This is a very, very talented, well-coached football team. Our defense is going to be tested from start to finish in the run game and in the passing game. In addition to that, our offense is going to be tested quite heavily. Our focus is on this weekend and on this division opponent.”
