Can't say there's anybody to blame but Ward, kid ran right in front of a car in the pitch black in a black jumpsuit. Tony's a rager, but he's never proven anything that says he'd go above and beyond into murderer.

Ugh, the kid was a complete jackass for getting out of his car and "challenging" a dude in a moving vehicle....on a racetrack.....at night....in a black suit.......however, I do have a tingle that tells me that Stewart turned into him in a very, VERY ill timed rage maneuver. I KNOW he didn't mean to kill the kid, but sheesh....it sure looked like he could have avoided him. No way any of us will know for sure what was going through his head. Sucks regardless, Terrible situation.

NOW it seems kevin ward was also high that evening. whether a race track allows you to leave your vehicle and go after other drivers is debatable in itself, HOWEVER, i have NEVER visited or RACED at a facility where it was OK to be HIGH (on anything, alcohol, drugs, etc.) and still be allowed to race. obviously not only did kevin ward not care about tony stewart (or hisself for that matter) he placed the safety of all other competitors last on his concerns that evening. dont start with medicinal marijuana blah blah blah, because if you are taking any type of medication that could impair your driving abilities you have no right or reason to be behind the wheel of a race car. (see jeremy mayfield). so all the tony haters need to open their eyes on this (although they wont, cause witch hunting is much too fun to pass up) thanks for letting me vent a bit.

Have they perfected a toxicology test now that can tell if a person is high on marijuana? How long has that been out? I sure hope so. That would mean I could get high on a Friday night and still pass a drug test next Wednesday, no? Otherwise, how does anyone know if the kid was high that night?
Nascar drivers used to race after drinking all the time. I've witnessed that myself.

i'm thinking they did a toxicology test within 24 hours. i'm betting they're closer to being experts on toxicology than you are. doing drugs and racing cars is a major taboo in that sport. ask jeremy mayfield. walking into the path of moving race cars isnt real bright either.

I'm sure they are better experts on toxicology than I am, I f uck ing hope so. But last time I checked, you could smoke marijuana up to six months previous and still test positive. You knew that right? But I'm pretty sure that if you run a toxicology within 24 hours or 124 hours on a corpse, the results are not going to be too different. That body's organs aren't processing anything anymore except maybe on THE WALKING DEAD.

But I'd dare say your ability to drive a race car today would not be very much affected by you smoking a joint back at spring break. Of course, you are probably not going to win often if that is your game plan. Getting out of the car ANYWHERE there are other moving cars isn't the smartest thing to do unless of course your junk is on fire.;)

It depends on where the THC was found. If it was in his bloodstream and in sufficient concentration, he was probably high. The reason it can be in your system for a lot longer is that it is fat soluble and is stored in fat after it leaves the bloodstream before being slowly eliminated from the body through piss.

High or not, getting out of the car on the track and walking into traffic the way the guy did was colossally - and fatally - stupid.

The report says he had an amount in his system that indicated he was high that night. It's very sad.

I wouldnt put it past TS to goose the throttle a little in that situation...which might have caused the back end to kick out into Ward

but Ward shouldn't have been on the track in the first place..especially a dimly lit one like that

Wow.

It's sad no doubt, but good lord, getting in a race car and competing against others at high speed is not exactly a smart choice when you're high on weed. Getting out of the car and walking into traffic was even dumber.

There are only three sports you should engage in when high on weed:

1) Competitive eating
2) Competitive f-cking
3) Amatuer philosophizing

What a shame to die for a high. His family can forget a civil suit as well. No way a jury awards a dime under these circumstances.

I thought the same thing but after a moment I figured they wouldn't win a civil suit anyway.
