TMZ knows this how?

I now have a copy of the tape and the NFL never asked ME to view my copy. Should I write a report about it and submit to the AP wire????

I really hate piling on. The public, players, media, talking heads on radio, they're all piling on. Its a lynching now. Pure and simple. The mob is en route.

Man what I wouldn't give for there to be a discovery of duplicates of the tapes Goodell destroyed.

Honestly, I don't know why someone didn't think of suing the NFL for obstruction of justice based on destroying evidence. I find it hard to believe what he did was legal considering that it could be used in evidence in a court case.
there are definitely legal options. but no one has the balls to do anything it seems like. and who can throw him out? the owners right? yea i wont hold my breath

He should be DONE. Complete cover up here AND after the Spygate cover up?? burning the tapes and closing the investigation after 4 days and blacklisting any reporter who dared bring it up. sickening, Goodell is a crooked politician period I've always known this.

You know what puzzles me on this? Its seems clear the NFL knew about this tape. How did the NFL allow themselves to get outbid for this tape? They could of threw money at this and do what they do best and that is destroy the tape.

I wrote weeks ago that there was a report Goodell and other NFL officials had seen this tape. It had been reported by a number of beat writers. This was not secret, Goodell tried to cover this up and hoped the tape never got released. Shame on Goodell and it may cost him his job. Cant believe I am going to say this but good for TMZ in throwing the NFL under the bus, they deserve it.

RG must think it is standard procedure for everyone, not just the NFL to destroy the evidence rather than use it to get a real idea of what happened.

RG brought it upon himself. All he had to do was punish RR accordingly instead of trying to cover it up. How could he be so stupid as to believe the tapes would never be made public? He saw the video and thought the best way to handle it was a cover up, just like spygate.

I think it is just as logical to believe that his office is inundated with personal conduct issues and, with out seeing a tape or even thinking about tape, he passed judgement on what he percieved to be a simple (and unfortunately all to common) occurance of a domestic dispute. He could have possibly blindly walked into this with NO TRUE facts or video, passed down "standard" punishment, then tried to regain solid footing by admitting"I handled it wrong". In my opinion it took some humility to to do that. I cant believe without a shadow of uncertainty that this video was viewed by anyone in the Ravens organzation or the NFL offices prior to TMZ releasing the footage.

And just food for thought...One must consider the HAD ROGER actually seen the footage, he would NEVER have passed down a standard two game suspension. His tenure is solidly reinforced by repeated efforts to improve the personal conduct of NFL players and improve the image of the NFL since the day he took office. So saying that he intentially ignored this damning video footage just does not add up to historical actions on his part.

( Any and all Patriots practice footage not withstanding, of course)

Goodell doesn't want controversy or to deal with losing valuable commodities like Ray Rice. he will sweep anything under the rug that he can or do damage control like he always does. politics at its finest.

I think there should be an independent investigation into whether or not Goodell, or anyone associated with the NFLPA or the Ravens Org.saw the video or not.

Goodell: I assumed there was another video but didn’t see it

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has reiterated what the league has been saying repeatedly in the 36 hours since footage of Ray Rice punching his wife first surfaced: The NFL didn’t see the video until the rest of the world did.

Goodell sat for an interview with CBS in which he said he hadn’t seen the video.

“We had not seen any videotape of what occurred in the elevator. We assumed that there was a video, we asked for video, we asked for anything that was pertinent, but we were never granted that opportunity,” Goodell said.

In a sign of just how big a story this has become, CBS broke into its regularly scheduled afternoon programming to show the brief clip from the interview in which Goodell made that statement. The network has promised that it will have more from Goodell on tonight’s news and tomorrow morning.

What CBS has not shown yet is any follow-up about why Goodell hasn’t seen the video. Why didn’t the NFL tell Rice and his attorney to provide the league with a copy of the video, and make providing the league with the video a condition of his continued employment? Why didn’t the NFL do what TMZ did, and approach the casino where the domestic violence incident took place to request the security tape?

Until Goodell answers that, no one is going to be satisfied with the NFL’s public statements. And even after Goodell answers that, few will be satisfied with the NFL’s handling of this mess.

Goodell doesn’t believe his job is on the line

In the wake of a call from Senator Heidi Heitkamp that Commissioner Roger Goodell should resign, Goodell addressed his job status during an interview with Norah O’Donnell of CBS.

While not part of the interview that was televised during the CBS Evening News, O’Donnell explained to anchor Bob Schieffer that she asked Goodell whether his job is on the line.

“No,” Goodell told O’Donnell. “I’m used to the criticism. I’m used to that. Every day, I have to earn my stripes.”

Most calls for Goodell to resign have arisen from the suspicion that the NFL saw the video that was released by TMZ on Monday before suspending Rice only two games. Goodell insisted that the NFL did not have access to the video.

“I got into the office [on Monday] and our staff had come to me and said, ‘There’s new evidence. There’s a video that you need to see.’ And I watched it then,” Goodell said. “We had not seen any videotape of what occurred in the video. We assumed that there was a video. We asked for video. But we were not granted that opportunity.”

So how did TMZ but not the NFL get the video?

“I don’t know how TMZ or any other website gets their information,” Goodell said. “We are particularly reliant on law enforcement. That’s the most reliable. It’s the most credible. And we don’t seek to get that information from sources that are not credible.”

But there are other reliable, credible sources than law enforcement. Did the league ask Rice to produce the video via his lawyer? If not, why not? Did the NFL ask the casino at which the incident occurred for the video? If not, why not?

Those questions weren’t asked. Also unasked, and unanswered, were questions regarding the specific law-enforcement agencies to whom the requests were made, and what those agencies had to say.

So while Goodell has addressed conclusively and credibly the question of whether the league had the video before Monday, the league continues to avoid the question of why the video wasn’t obtained. Unless and until that question is fully and completely answered, the controversy will linger and possibly grow, and public confidence in the NFL will not be fully restored.

Echoes of Nawlins underwater and Bush saying "Brownie you're doing a heckuva job" when later we find out he was completely ignoring the situation until it was too late.

I have no doubt Goodell didn't see the tape. He didn't want to see the Spy Gate videos either.

Goodell doesn't want to know the truth. Ever.
