It is almost necessary to win, a loss on opening day would make it hard having to chase a .500 record and most likely be looking up in the division again.

I'm Temped to do the same, and then just let it roll over game to game all season long! ( or until I get scared!!)

That's the joke. I had people doubling up with the big wins last year and then talked them into losing it all!

I'm a bit of an optimist.

However, I will be betting it all. If they can't beat the Vikings...

It's very very simple. The Vikings offense is a lot like the Rams offense a few years back. Stack the box and stop AP ad you stop the Vikings, it's that simple. Our offense will topple their defense IMO.

p.s. You think our guys aren't hungry to pay AP back from embarrassing them a few years back? I see us pummeling them, maybe not in a blowout score but pummel them physically.

I am more worried about week 2 vs Tampa..they have some big tall WR's there...and our secondary is questionable

It won't matter them having tall WR's just like it didn't matter with us playing the Bears last year. Our front 7 on defense is going to pressure so much they wont be able to get the ball effectively to the WR's enough. I'm not worried about Dallas either, when we play Philly that will be our first tough opponent IMO

We did that 2 years ago. I was there. He still got 200+.

New coach, new system. Continuity gives us the edge but I certainly hope the Rams won't sleep on the Vikings (or any team for that matter)

Yeah but look who was there on our roster. Shall I gif up Mr. Dahl taking the most horrible angles ever again? Apparently he skipper Geometry in school...

Dahl is long gone. Those 10 yard runs have less chance of turning into 80 yard tds.

.

Yeah you're right, we replaced Dahl with a much better safety in McCleod (sarcasm). We are in more trouble than most of you think. We might have the worst safety duo in the NFL, and we need safeties to tackle and stop AP.

Patterson will also be hard to stop. He has Percy Harvin ability in a much larger body. They will come at us with screens to him and AP, and will run the ball a lot. Also if Bridgewater starts they'll be much better in the pass game.

My optimism with this game (improved D scheme) is also my concern. Williams like to takes risks on D. Cassel may not be headed to the HOF anytime soon but he surely can identify a DB left on an island or put of position on a blitz. The Vikings have guys who can make some plays.
If the D and secondary in particular have significant growing pains with the new D it will be tough.
Williams had the great advantage of usually playing from in front with New Orleans. He had an O that good enough that his D could give up big plays.
That said, I look forward to what he does with this talented group. I fully expect a better D than last year. I think expectations have gotten a bit bloated.

You guys are forgetting that this year we have Gregg Williams, not Tim Walton.
I doubt they will make many points, even with AP and C. Patterson.

The one thing that scares me about Williams D is that it can get beat when they take too many chances.

Short quick, blitz beating patterns favor guys like Patterson who is a good open field runner.

With this being year one in the new D there is bound to be some mistakes, especially with a young secondary. Over committing against AP is a formula for a loss.

I didn't read this far obviously. We think alike.

I still predict a win though.

I will respectfully disagree with your opinion on our 'Expectation'. And I Firmly believe the Vikes are really going to regret letting Jared Allen go!

They'll be fired up, but so will we....In the dome, not an easy win but the defense will come ready to play....If Sam can get us moving...I see us pulling away in the second half....28-10
