Marcedes Lewis was just released by the Jaguars. He'll be 34 when the season starts and has apparently lost what little speed he had. I know McVay wants a TE, but even as a UCLA alumnus, I'm not sure if Lewis will provide much for us.

Rams tried to sign him a few years back I think but he went back to Jacksonville. I would say pass now because of his age. I was a fan of his back at UCLA too.

Saw where it looks like EJ Gaines is close to a deal with the Browns.

Su’a Cravens traded to Broncos

So much for Washington not trading Su'a Cravens.

Cravens, the Washington safety who was drafted in the second round in 2016 and didn’t play at all in 2017, has been traded to Denver.

The deal features Denver giving up the 109th overall pick, the 142nd overall pick, the 163rd overall pick and a conditional 2020 sixth-round pick in exchange for Cravens, the 113th overall pick and the 149th overall pick, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Add all those picks up and it’s roughly the equivalent of Cravens being traded for a late fourth-round pick.

But, basically, Washington is getting a fifth-round pick and change for Cravens, whom coach Jay Gruden previously said they wouldn’t trade.

Denver gets a talented player, but one who has had concussion problems and has openly discussed potentially retiring. If Cravens is good to go in 2018, this looks like a good move for the Broncos. If not, Washington has to be thrilled just to get something for him.

Sanchez could be Seahawks’ backup quarterback plan, though cries begin for Kaepernick

It wasn’t long after the Seahawks cut Trevone Boykin on Tuesday that speculation began about the possibility of Colin Kaepernick becoming the team’s backup quarterback.

The Seahawks hosted Kaepernick last spring, the only free agent visit the former 49ers quarterback has had the past 14 months. Kaepernick, 30, did not play last season.

But it sounds more likely the Seahawks could sign Mark Sanchez. Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times reports the team has interest in the former first-round pick.

Sanchez, 31, spent last season with the Bears. He has spent time with five teams in the past five seasons, including the Broncos in the 2016 preseason.

Russell Wilson currently is the only quarterback on the Seahawks’ roster. Austin Davis, who was on the team’s roster last season, remains unsigned.

Benny Cunningham re-signs with Bears

Running back Benny Cunningham visited the Saints but re-signed with the Bears, his representation, SIG Sports, tweeted Monday.

Cunningham, 27, is a core special teams player and third-down back. He played 175 snaps on offense and 229 on special teams last season for the Bears.

In five NFL seasons, Cunningham has more receiving yards (992) than rushing yards (777).

Cunningham played his first four seasons for the Rams. He has 113 career receptions for 992 yards and three touchdowns and 180 rushes for 777 yards and four touchdowns.

He also has 102 career kickoff returns, though only seven came with the Bears last season.

Field Yates of ESPN reported Cunningham’s visit to the Saints, but with Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara entrenched in New Orleans, Cunningham likely would have received less playing time on offense than he will get in Chicago.
