Met a bunch of hockey players, all the Kings of course... My dad works for the entertainment industry so I've met a bunch of different celebrities over the years, most were pretty nice, some weren't (Selena Gomez got really pissed off at an event my father took me to when I was served a steak before her, and when the waiter said it was because I was home on leave from Afghanistan and it was my first meal, she got even more pissed off because I "wasn't even more important than her"... I wasn't pissed, but damn did that leave a bad impression on everyone)... Different famous people come into my work to shoot, Aston Kutcher, and he thankfully brought Mila Kunis with him. Bunch others, Dr Dre, Judd Nelson..

I also met both President Bush and President Obama when they were in office. Lots of other politicians as well, but I never cared for them, but meeting the sitting president is always a cool thing. Both were very nice guys, obviously, Bush told me to "give em hell" as we were set to deploy soon, and Obama (it was right after he took office) said to make sure we got whatever beer we wanted, as it was when we were returning.

Lompoc High? I graduated Atascadero High and lived in San Luis Obispo County for many years. I met my wife when she was living in Shell Beach.

Went to Cal Poly SLO. Loved it there- should have stayed.
Actually lived in Atascadero when it only had one signal. Could see the mental facility from my bedroom window.
Ever go to the Far Western in Guadalupe?

I met Bob Costas a few times. I worked at O'Connells Pub in high school and he would frequent it quite a bit. He was very nice and always respectful.

We moved to A-town in '75. Pretty sure there was only one signal then too - Traffic Way and El Camino. There were 5,000 people in town - it's about 30,000 now. My parents and brother still live there. The state hospital inmates had a softball team that was in our league in the mid 80's. We had to go into the place to play them. Made you think twice about fielding a ground ball when a bunch of sex offenders are whistling and cat calling at you. The field was kind of like playing at Fenway because right field was the wall of the building and you had to play the ball off it. Every now and then a "patient" would just start walking across the field with a blank stare. Kinda freaky.

Never been to Far Western as far as I can recall. Heard lots of good things about it though.

Badass topic @Prime Time .

I met Kareem Abdul Jabar walking out of the Wells Fargo Arena (Arizona State) after a Nike Desert Classic college like "all-star" game.

The Bus rookie year and the Rev' at Sun Devil Stadium near the Rams bus.

Jerry Rice and Young but both opted politely to no pictures or autograph signing. Likely since I was decked out in Rams gear at Sun Devil Stadium for a Cardinals Niners game. :sneaky:

Musicians mostly unplanned; Sully Urna, Chino Moreno, Robin Trower, Ozzy, Corey Taylor, Zakk Wylde, actually a lot of bands in general. Craziness!

Mark Hamill. Met him at Star Wars Celebration: Japan (was running a booth there). End of the last day comes around, and I went to give him the new Luke Skywalker toy my company made.

Approached where he had been signing autographs all weekend and said "Mr. Hamill, I'd like to give you this so-and-so that my company makes." He pulls a "Mr. Hamill? That's my dad's name. He's not here, is he?" and proceeds to try to set me up with his way-too-hot daughter. Damnable new marriage.

Also, he's much less of a big deal, but Jeremy Bulloch - the original Boba Fett - was awesome. Ended up chatting with him and his wife about soccer for about an hour. Same event.

Ever meet anyone famous?

Got to thinking about this while reading an article about Muhammad Ali recently. I got to shake hands and have a brief conversation with him while I was a journalism student at San Jose State and he was giving a speech. This was around 1970 if my memory is correct.

He was gracious and extremely funny. There was a drunk in the audience who came forward and challenged him to a fight. As he staggered up to him, Ali did his usual bobbing and weaving and said "That's one crazy white boy" while the crowd laughed.
Your story reminds me of the time I met Tori Murden McClure because of her Muhammad Ali ties. Ali reached out to her after she failed her first attempt to row across the Atlantic. He offered her a job and ultimately convinced to give it another shot. She's a great speaker and aside from being the first woman to row across the Atlantic, she's been to Antarctica, and is currently the President of Spalding University in Louisville, KY. She's a tall and athletic woman and meeting her is humbling because she's pretty darn tough.

I've also met Kevin Young, the world record holder in the 400m hurdlers.

Now I feel bad because I know I've met more famous people but for whatever reason I just don't cherish those memories.

My grandfather does know the Clintons. He taught a class or two at the Law school while Bill and Hillary were working there as well.

As a youngster I was eating lunch with a guy, no idea who he was. He asked me his name and I asked his. He introduced himself as John Sunvold. Didn't mean anything to me. Then he said he plays for the San Antonio Spurs. So I thought he was a country music singer. Lol

I've met a lot of NFL players. Biggest name of anyone that I've met is Michael Jordan...but I guess I didn't technically meet him. Tried to shake his hand since we were both out at the pool at a resort but his body-guards wouldn't allow me to.

I also shook hands and had a brief conversation with Shad Khan.

Best experience had to be sitting in George Steinbrenner's box at the old Yankee Stadium. Was awesome. Got to touch a World Series trophy, saw some crazy memorabilia on the wall(including the contract that brought Babe Ruth to the Yankees) and saw Barry Bonds hit a homerun at the game.

This reminds me of my grandfather. He was offered tickets to Don Larsen's perfect game but couldn't go for the very reason the guy offering tickets couldn't go, they both had to work.

The manager of my younger brother's little league team arranged a game between them and the Hollywood Shorties. So I met Billy Barty.

In my senior year of HS, I went to a church camp on a February holiday weekend (before they called Washington and Lincoln's birthday's Presidents' Day). The guest speaker was Ray Bradbury, and he spent the whole weekend with us, including eating the same food. I have a picture of him somewhere.

Met Steve Jobs at the MacWorld in SF in '97, I think. Shook his hand. He didn't like crowds, you could tell. Later, in 2000, when I'd architected the first Mac-based render farm, Steve Jobs actually was made aware of and appreciated my work. That was amazing to me because he was notoriously difficult on ideas created outside of Apple.

I went to Santa Monica HS, which included Malibu, so I went to HS with the children of tons of celebrities. I went to HS with Chad Lowe. I just missed going with Charlie Sheen and Rob Lowe and Emilio Estevez and a whole bunch of the Brat Pack crew.

My dad is the man for this though... He's truly the Forrest Gump type.

He joined the Navy in late '60... was such a good singer that by the end of bootcamp in what must have been early '61, they were giving him his exit test on the way to the airport so that he could join the Navy Choir to sing for President Kennedy.

After leaving the Navy, he starting doing martial arts in the nascent martial arts scene in SoCal in the early-mid 60s with guys like Bob Osmond who taught Frank Dux (the inspiration for the movie, Bloodsport) to strike. He also met Bruce Lee and fought Bob Wall twice in competition (the scar face in Enter the Dragon) who was Chuck Norris' student. My dad was on speaking terms with Chuck Norris back then. The martial arts community was so small, you could actually know everyone who was training (was only a few hundred die hards of brown belt or higher, my dad was a brown belt).

And so help me, even this last trip (my dad just went back to PA from my home in FL), I'm 45 and he's STILL remembering NEW stories of movie stars and actors and athletes he met from when he lived in Hollywood. It's like the guy knew or met almost everyone who was anyone in that town when he was there.

Met Derek Jeter at a business thingie. He was as cool as he appears on tv. Was a benefit for his Skippy Peanut Butter promotion. They gave out several autographed pics that he had signed. They got the count wrong and awarded 5 but he only signed 4. Without hesitation, he reached for a sharpie to sign when his father jumped in and wouldnt allow it. He was contracted, and paid for only 4. Jeter was like, cmon man its only an autograph but his father wouldnt allow it.
He was travelling with Chris Chambliss (who was a total deek) and Shane Spencer who was a rook who had torn up the majors for a bit. Spencer was so cool, we were chatting a bit and he couldnt get over the size of the facility and was impresssed that I oversaw all the corporate svc. Lol
I wanted to talk more about his homers at the stadium and meeting chicks on the road, but he wanted to ask me questions about staff, inventory etc....

I stood next to Eva Larue on one of my forays into NYC. She is way hotter in person and she was wearing a mini skirt and carrying a Victorias Secret bag......I could only imagine...man I gave my girlfriend a pounding that night, never told her the reason.

I met Bob Costas in the Hallway of Rockefeller Center too. I should have punched him in the face. He is very small and I was thinking how easy it would be to give him a good beat down.

I met Joe Paterno while at PSU in the late 80s.
