I watched the fight shortcut style on YouTube. The fight starts just short of 10 minutes in.

McGregor got away with way more that a typical boxer would have. If this wasn't the spectacle that it was and was a typical boxing match he may have been DQ'd, he would have at least had points taken away in two rounds.

A lot of writers are giving him credit for "landing punches" but IMO that's an insult to punches. They were taps and slaps pretty often. He did land some good shots, no doubt about it, but he's getting credit for way more than he should IMO. And a lot of the punches in the last few rounds had nothing at all behind them anyway.

Mayweather had the right plan, go back and forth a few rounds to see how McGregor was going to approach the match. Once he got him pegged it was just a matter of time, though I thought the ref would have let Mayweather finish him since it was only a matter of a couple or few more shots before McGregor was going down.

Both of these guys are so dis-likable it's no wonder the PPV was so huge. Everyone was tuning in to see one of them get knocked out.

To me it looked like CM really wanted to take FM down and get him to submit with a choke hold lol.

The promoters should have had 2 MMS fights and 2 boxing matches fur the prelims. Pretty sure they could have switched from the octagon to boxing ring in the time they had between bouts

He was very grabby and threw enough illegal shots that he could have been DQ'd. The rabbit punches alone were really shitty of him, that's just lousy sportsmanship.

I didn't watch this live, I just found the shortcut version on YouTube and watched it this morning.

It was strange to see Floyd in attack mode. Both fighters got away with some illegal actions. The fight was better than I expected.

Floyd could have taken him out anytime he wanted....It was close early because he wanted it to be for PPV.....as I posted on the other thread, Conor is awkward and athletic but that's it, he was not throwing power shots because he could not, he would have left himself open to big counters, slappy soft shots and nothing more....this was nothing more than sparring for Floyd. He didn't do any of his normal stuff, no head movement, no "shoulder lean" defense, no angles really, just stood in the pocket so Conor could find him, even layed on the ropes for him a couple of times.
Sparring and nothing more.
If anyone things that was Floyd being Floyd they don't know him as a boxer. If anyone thinks Conor did anything in this fight or that is was close, they are delusional. Floyd threw 6 combined punches the first two rounds and about 10 the third round. He gave him those rounds to create something and make the fight last and said as much after.
If Conor were facing a mid level, say the 20th ranked guy in that weight class, who is hungry and not worried about PPV audience he would get destroyed very quickly. He really proved the point with them being different sports.

Couple of key points here,
#1 I am not a fan of conspiracy theories
#2 Grew up a boxing fan, wore the gloves myself quite a bit as a youngster
#3 Have gravitated to the UFC/MMA as a fan

Ok, that said, and I hate to admit this but....
Watching the replay of the fight makes me feel pretty strongly that it was pretty much scripted. Outcome was perfect for both sides. No losers and both incredibly big winners.
And FWIW, should not count as 50-0, was an exhibition IMO, not a match. The glove weights alone should make it unofficial

Watch where his hands are and that tells you all you need to know. If a boxer came at him he'd be out early

I think it was sanctioned so it counts, but I don't think it should.

I didn't know glove weight made a difference, but if it does then this shouldn't be considered a match.
