Marcus Vick is charged with assaulting a police officer

As quarterback Mike Vick tries to stay in the NFL, his notorious younger brother may have a hard time staying out of jail.

Marcus Vick, a great college quarterback who never had more than a shot of espresso with the NFL, has been charged with assaulting a police officer, via WAVY.com. He also faces charges of obstruction of justice, destruction of property, and resisting arrest from an incident occurring at a fitness facility on Sunday.

A Newport News police spokesperson told WAVY-TV that police had received information that Vick was wanted in Montgomery County, Virginia for contempt of court. As the officer tried to arrest Vick, Vick tried to run, pushing the officer away and knocking him into a counter top. Vick also allegedly broke a door.

After a brief chase on foot, Vick was taken into custody.

Mike Vick has been criticized at times for failing to get the most out of his God-given skills. Marcus Vick, while not as talented as his brother, did far less with his own abilities.

Still only 32, Marcus Vick would still be in his prime, if he’d managed to stick in the NFL. But that ship sailed a long time ago.

Former running back Montee Ball, who is facing charges for two separate domestic violence accusations made by two different women, is now accused of violating his bail.

Wisconsin television station WKOW reports that Ball was taken into custody at 9:25 Saturday night in Whitewater, Wisconsin, on a felony bail jumping violation.

According to the report, police were called and informed that Ball was in a bar drinking alcohol despite having bond conditions not to consume alcohol and not to be in a bar. Although Ball was not at the bar when police arrived, they were able to track him down, and he had an odor of alcohol on his breath. Ball refused blood-alcohol tests, but police obtained a search warrant to draw his blood.

Ball’s next scheduled court appearance is Tuesday afternoon.

The 25-year-old Ball was a 2013 second-round pick out of Wisconsin, where he set an NCAA record for career touchdowns. He played two seasons in Denver and then briefly spent time on the Patriots’ practice squad.

Report: Players with low Wonderlic scores are more likely to be arrested
Posted by Michael David Smith on April 12, 2016

The Wonderlic intelligence test that has long been part of the NFL’s pre-draft screening process is mocked by many as irrelevant to a player’s football playing ability. But one group of researchers says the Wonderlic can be valuable in predicting how a player will fare off the field.

A paper published this month in the American Journal of Applied Psychology found that there’s a correlation between a player’s Wonderlic score and his likelihood of being arrested during his time in the NFL.

The effects are relatively small,” author Brian Hoffman, a professor at Georgia, told ESPN. “But it’s important here because when making multimillion-dollar decisions, a small effect can be very meaningful. A player’s getting a four-game suspension can be a big deal, competitively and financially.”

The study also found that a player who was arrested before the draft is almost twice as likely to be arrested during his NFL career as a player who had not been arrested before the draft. That makes sense, and it’s no surprise that many teams will move a player down or off their draft boards if he’s arrested. But the Wonderlic result is more surprising, and suggests that teams may have legitimate reasons to continue using the much-derided test.

Free agent Khalif Barnes arrested on suspicion of drunk driving

Preston Parker isn’t the only unsigned NFL player to run into trouble with the law recently.

Offensive lineman Khalif Barnes was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving in California on Sunday. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Barnes was pulled over at around 4 p.m. and taken to jail in Santa Rita after failing field sobriety tests. Barnes was cited and released after sobering up in custody and the case was referred to Alameda County prosecutors.

Barnes spent the last seven seasons with the Raiders and was a starter for much of that time. He moved into a reserve role in 2015 and started once while making 14 appearances for Oakland over the course of the season. There hasn’t been any public sign of interest around the league in his services.

Barnes was also a starter for the Jaguars, who picked him in the second round of the 2005 draft, during the first four years of his career. He was arrested for drunk driving in 2006 when he was a member of the team and ultimately received probation to resolve the case.

Dana Stubblefield faces rape allegation
Posted by Mike Florio on May 2, 2016

Former NFL defensive lineman Dana Stubblefield faces rape charges in California.

According to Jason Green of Bay Area News Group, the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office formally accused Stubblefield, 45, of raping a “developmentally delayed” female.

“This was a crime of violence against a vulnerable victim,” Deputy District Attorney Tim McInerny said in a statement. “She was looking for a job and she was unconscionably assaulted.”

Stubblefield allegedly contacted the woman through an online service under the guise of looking for a nanny. He allegedly interviewed her on April 9, 2015, she left, and she soon received a text message from Stubblefield indicating he wanted to pay her for her time.

At that point, she allegedly returned to the house, where Stubblefield allegedly picked her up, carried her to a room, and raped her. He then allegedly gave her $80 and let her leave.

The alleged victim went directly to a police station and said she’d been raped by a man named Dana. Stubblefield’s DNA allegedly matched DNA obtained from the victim.

Stubblefield is accused of five felony counts and faces, according to prosecutors, a substantial prison sentence if convicted.

He spent 11 years in the NFL, playing for the 49ers from 1993 through 1997, Washington from 1998 through 2000, the 49ers again in 2001 and 2002, and the Raiders in 2003. A three-time Pro Bowler, Stubblefield was the 1993 NFL defensive rookie of the year and the 1997 NFL defensive player of the year.

I'm wondering. Do rapists even enjoy having sex? There's no way someone can enjoy sex if the other person is crying or screaming/sobbing. That's not enjoying sex, that's enjoying seeing someone else in pain and misery.

I wanna say when I read about it, it was the power trip that gets them off, not really the sex so much. It's like the evil side of BDSM I suppose. About owning someone.

Sick shit.

Ex-49er Stubblefield wants prosecutor removed from rape case
By PAUL ELIAS (Associated Press)1 hour agoAP - Sports

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- A former San Francisco 49er accused of raping a woman described as mentally delayed called on a Northern California district attorney on Friday to turn over prosecution of the case to the state attorney general.

Attorneys for Dana Stubblefield on Friday argued in court papers that Santa Clara County District Attorney Jeff Rosen is using the high-profile case to further his political ambitions for higher office.

Rosen hasn't publicly announced plans to run for another elective office.

Stubblefield's attorney said the district attorney has publicly released ''selective'' and prejudicial information about the case that threatens the former defensive lineman's right to a fair trial.

The district attorney charged Stubblefield on Monday with raping a woman last year in his Morgan Hill, California, home.

The woman, who was then 31, traveled to Stubblefield's home on April 9, 2015, to interview for a job baby-sitting his children. Investigators say she left after 20 minutes, but she returned when Stubblefield texted her that he wanted to pay for her time.

After raping her, investigators said, Stubblefield gave her $80 and let her go. The woman immediately went to the Morgan Hill Police Department and reported the rape, prosecutors said.

On Tuesday, Stubblefield said the encounter was consensual, and his attorneys denied the woman suffered from any disability that prevented her from consenting.

Stubblefield's attorney said the woman asked him for money several times after the encounter and that he provided her with a small amount for car repairs.

Rosen's office said in a prepared statement Friday that it would respond to the recusal request in court.

''Our response is the evidence we will present in court,'' the office said in a prepared statement. ''We seek justice for the victim and the people.''

What! No Tyler Higbee news? I know the guy got his own thread n' all, still...?

Los Angeles Rams draft pick Tyler Higbee entered a not guilty plea in a Kentucky courtroom on Thursday, the tight end’s first court appearance since his arrest last in the aftermath of an alleged assault outside a club last month.

Wearing a dark suit and striped tie, the arraignment on second-degree assault, second-degree evading police and public intoxication charges, lasted only a few moments, according to the Bowling Green Daily News. Higbee is due back in court on June 17.

Reche Caldwell is officially the worst criminal in the world
Posted by Darin Gantt on May 12, 2016

If you’ve ever wondered “How could Reche Caldwell not have seen that coming?,” well, now you have your answer.

The former Patriots wide receiver, known for his egregious dropped playoff pass and his wide-eyed reaction to it can add “worst criminal ever” to his resume.

In a frankly hilarious portrait of a criminal mastermind except without the mind part, David Fleming of ESPN details how exactly Caldwell ended up serving a 27-month sentence for a laundry list of charges from gambling to drug importing.

But the amazing part of Caldwell’s story is how oblivious he was to the fact he was being arrested multiple times.

When he was tracking a UPS shipment of drugs from China on his smart (or not) phone, it wasn’t until he signed for the package that he realized he had been busted again.

“I Googled it, baby!,” Caldwell explained to Fleming, when asked how he ended up in a comfortable Florida prison.

When a SWAT team broke down the door of the storefront gambling parlor he was running across the street from an elementary school (with coffee cans stuffed full of cash), he was eating a sandwich and wondering why they were so aggressive.

“Damn, man, you blasted the door with a tank?,” he asked. “Why didn’t ya just knock? I woulda let y’all in.”

Other than the fact he’s still in prison, Caldwell seems to be at peace with his football mistakes, his post-football mistakes (of which there are more) and proud of the fact his brother Andre just won a Super Bowl ring.

But his exploits are still a head-scratcher to those who love him, to their relief.

“Good lord that boy was a bad criminal,” his mother said, “and thank Jesus for that.”

Caldwell will be eligible for transfer to a work-release facility later this month, and we hope he has turned his back on a life of crime. Mostly because he’s really bad at it.

Quarterback Tarvaris Jackson is without a team for the 2016 season, although that may be the least of his worries in the near future.

Chris Hush of WESH in Orlando reports that Jackson was arrested for aggravated assault after pulling a gun on his wife. Hush shares a shot of the police report from the Osceola County Sheriffs Office from an officer who reported to the scene of a domestic disturbance.

Per the report, Jackson was intoxicated and loaded his gun during an argument with his wife before telling her “I’ll kill you, bitch.” Another adult who was at the house grabbed Jackson before things could escalate any further.

Jackson’s wife told police she feared for her life and grabbed an iron and knife at points for protection, but Jackson initially said nothing more than arguing occurred. He also told police that there was no gun in the house, but they found a handgun on the kitchen counter along with marijuana.

Jackson later told police he did grab a bag containing his gun and told his wife that he should shoot her. Per the report, Jackson’s wife replied that he “better be accurate because you ain’t accurate on the field.” Burn.......................:fuelfire:

The Seahawks signed Trevone Boykin and Jake Heaps as backup options for Russell Wilson after Jackson filled the role for the last three years. They’ve said the door isn’t closed on a return to the team, although this incident and whatever happens next could certainly shut it.

Former Seahawks quarterbackTarvaris Jackson has been released from jail on a $2,500 bond, after allegedly pointing a gun at and threatening to kill his wife.

According to Chris Hush of WESH, the 33-year-old Jackson was released from jail Friday.

Deputies: Tarvaris Jackson Pointed Loaded Gun At Woman, Threatened To Kill Her
Diana Moskovitz

Former Seahawks quarterback Tarvaris Jackson was arrested earlier today after authorities said he pointed a loaded gun at a woman he was arguing with and told her, “I’ll kill you bitch.” The arrest happened shortly after 3 a.m. this morning in Florida’s Osceola County; Jackson was booked into local jail on one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and later released on bond.

According to the charging affidavit, the woman told the deputy that she, Jackson and another person, whose name was redacted, were visiting from Alabama on vacation. She and Jackson had spent most of the trip arguing. They spent part of Thursday night apart, and then Jackson came back intoxicated, the woman told the Osceola Sheriff’s Office. Jackson kicked in the bedroom door and started yelling, the woman said. They got in another verbal fight and Jackson started packing his stuff.

The woman went downstairs and grabbed a knife. She said “she was in fear, not knowing what Jackson was going to do since he was drunk,” the affidavit said. She told the deputy that Jackson becomes violent when he drinks and he “has hit her in the past.” When Jackson started to come downstairs, she went upstairs without the knife.

kgxsgoqeqqrxvudiet9e.jpg

When the deputy talked to Jackson, he said nothing had happened and the two of them were just arguing. Jackson said there were no firearms in the house, but deputies saw handgun on the kitchen counter.

Another person who was there said that Jackson and the woman had been arguing a lot. He said he did hold Jackson back but no gun was involved. A second person said she heard Jackson yell “I could kill that bitch” and later, “She gone run today. She gone run today.” After his arrest, Jackson changed his story to say he did grab his book bag with a gun inside of it because the woman had a knife in her hand.

Jackson has spent the past three years as the backup quarterback to Russell Wilson in Seattle. Before that, his longest stint was five seasons with the Minnesota Vikings. He’s currently a free agent.
