For anyone who's interested...
I talk about this statistic alot because i believe it's a strong indicator of overall success.
We all know how important turnovers are, but to take it a step further we can look at the results or consequences of those turnovers in terms of points. Points scored by turnovers forced and points allowed as a direct result of your own turnovers.

I'll try to update the rankings each week.
I'll list three numbers for each team and rank them according to the net points.
Takeaway points/Giveaway points/Net team turnover points plus or minus. I'll also list the teams win/loss record below.

Wow, have the Panthers really not given up any points off turnovers through a quarter-season?

Yeah to only give away 6 points from turnovers at this point in the season is pretty damn good. The Steelers only surrendering 3 points is also impressive considering that they've been rolling with backup QB's for a few weeks.

Pretty telling statistic.

Green teams are mostly good.

Red teams are mostly bad.

It is somewhat telling that almost 1/2 our points have come from turnovers...This offense is scoring less than 10 points a game when they get the ball in standard field position.

It would be cool if you added the Rams opponents ranking for each upcoming game.

Where do the Vikings sit on this list?

Tampa is surprisingly doing a nice job of taking advantage of opponents' mistakes, but they've also surrendered 48 points due to their own mistakes. That's a pretty high number.

Thanks @Mojo Ram ... This is going to be a key metric for us so its good to keep up with. Once we get the offense rolling a bit, we can relax a little, but until we do the turnover points are important.

Pretty surprising considering they have a rookie QB who had 3 or 4 INT's in his 1st game but this past weekend they scored all 23 of their points off turnovers, so they flipped their total from negative to positive in one game. Thanks Atlanta.

I agree, and i would add that while Foles does need to pick it up and make more plays...so far(except for the Green Bay game)he's doing a decent job of not putting our team & defense into bad situations by doing what Davis and Hill did last season...which was magnify our mistakes(turnovers) on the scoreboard.
The Rams finished 2014 at a net -23 and surrendered a whopping 102 points directly off turnovers, 3rd worst in the NFL.
We're almost halfway through this season and that number is only 21 points surrendered. Big improvement there and i think we have to give some credit to Foles as well as our defense.

It's a team statistic based simply on minimizing your mistakes and taking advantage of the opponents mistakes on the scoreboard.

I'd also throw in luck to the definition... I like the emphasis is on how a team responds to the turnover, but there's still a huge amount of luck involved in turnovers notwithstanding the efforts to min/max the effects of after they happen.

Not really. It's not about the actual turnover or how many you commit or force or how it happens. It's how they affect the scoreboard which is of course the final determination in wins/losses.
For instance, a tipped pass that turns into an INT could be considered a lucky break for the opponent...but do you allow the opponent to score? If your defense is good enough you either negate that INT by forcing a punt or forcing a turnover, minimize it by forcing a FG or magnify it by giving up a pick six or a TD on the next possession. .

I agree that simply looking at a teams giveaway/takeaway ratio involves some luck as to how these turnovers occur, but not the result on the scoreboard.
