(On if anything stood out about the inability to run the ball consistently yesterday)

“Well they didn’t let us – they weren’t going to let us – their whole defense was setup to that. We had, probably, a half-dozen runs that were close to getting unblocked to the safety with Todd, it’s just that close. Their commitment was to stop the run and then try to get us to make the plays outside. But we wanted to stay with the run because it’s the run game that helps you get the plays outside.”

"....we wanted to STAY WITH THE RUN....""??? NO SH!T...!!!! The 49ers knew that, i knew that, you knew that, my cat knew that !!!

Seems like I've heard him say a version of that paragraph for years now. Always one or two blocks away, the other team really setup to take whatever away, but we wanted to stay with it because in my spare time I smack my head against a brick wall for s***s and giggles so this seemed just as fun.

We get it, Gurley almost had 500 yards rushing if we had only blocked those other 9 guys on the field. And you almost had a great offensive performance if it wasn't for that pesky other team being in your way.

I'm also forced to wonder what the strategy was in "letting" them run the ball. We should try that "not let them" thing for ourselves.
