That was the Niners trick in the 1990s. Steve Young renegotiated 1.5 million of his contract into "future services" and the Niners got caught, but they got off light. The NFL changed the punishment to something like $4 million in fines and losing up to two 1st round picks for future offenders.

It's easier in the NBA because the teams are so much smaller and one guy makes that much more of a difference.

That said, it would be a crazy dynamic if AD went to the Rams and either on his own or with other big $ vets decided to pool some money to sign someone on a short term deal to try to create a super team.

Oh, and I just thought of a way for Kroenke to totally funnel a TON of money to AD.

Have AD start a construction company. He can build Habitat for Humanity homes and funnel his charity monies through that. Then, have Kroenke WAY overpay to buy his construction company.

The minute he's retired, the private entities could consummate a deal in which Kroenke pays $100M for a company that's worth less than $1M.

And nothing would be illegal about it because it's a private transaction outside of football with a former player.

Now, I know there are regs about not outright paying former players...like paying a former player $10M/yr to be a quality control coach, but nothing says a real estate dev can't buy construction companies.

I wouldn't do this. Kroenke...don't do this. :sneaky::sneaky::sneaky:

Umm... isn't this exactly what the Pats are doing with Tom Brady and his controlling interest in that "health and rehab" company with that one dude that the Pats eventually banned from the sidelines this year.

Most hyped prospect in the beginning of the decade. Luckily Donald turned out to be the more productive linemen.

Yep. And it’s still going on without penalty.

I’m almost of the opinion that not doing it puts one at a disadvantage.

Unless the NFL starts punishing folks, I would expect all sorts of silliness.

Highly doubt he joins us , if he did this D line would be ridiculous .

I wonder if NFL players will start taking big pay cuts to form super teams. Guys like suh have made so much money already that taking a pay cut to win a ring seems logical .

That’s what happened back in the day. Georgia fucked all that up. Her husband kept Hacksaw Reynolds , & then he left as a FA to the Niners . The rest is history.

The Niners owner was the Best ! He treated the players right(first class) .Kevin Green even went there to win a Super Bowl..

Jimmy Graham reportedly deciding between going back to the Saints or signing with the Packers. If he goes to Green Bay, maybe they stop pursuing Sammy Watkins?

Due to the sheer absurdity of Suh and Donald on this line, I wouldn't mind if this happened. There's not many rushers on the market that can bring his ability.

How the hell would the Hawks sign him though? Where's their money for that?

And the organized crime scandal connected with Louisiana casino licensing, that was the best too!

Carmen policy blew that group up with the salary cap, then went on to ruin the Cleveland Browns right from the start.

If we could get Suh for cheap, we'd be crazy not to do it. He has been facing double teams all his career. Who would the opposition double team when he stands beside Donald? I'm sorry but this would be a nightmare for any QB we faced.

He was also called "coach" by his Detroit teammates in the locker room, because he could do anything he d@mn well pleased. Although it would be fun to hear of Aaron Donald beating the cr@p out of him for being that way, I'd rather not have him at all....Who needs that?
