Steven Jackson is ready to roll.

Per NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, the veteran running back will be active Sunday despite only a week with the club. Jackson was brought in to fill the power back/closer role vacated by an injuredLeGarrette Blount.

The Patriots-Jets game already provides us with high drama -- the Jets desperately needing a win to stay alive in the hunt for a playoff spot -- but the addition of Jackson running against a top-notch defensive line will be an enjoyable subplot.

Jackson has not played in an NFL game since Dec. 21, 2014, as a member of the Atlanta Falcons.

Jackson was known for his grinding style and, over time, his longevity. Based on his bruising form and heavy work ethic, it was no surprise that he slowed up a bit as he approaches the tail end of his career.

With more than a year to prepare for this moment, his opponents should take note. Jackson is well-rested and could be the perfect addition to the Patriots' roster down the stretch.

For more on Jackson's first game, stay tuned to Around The NFL on Sunday.

Damn SJ39 curse, Guy can't catch a break.

0-1 with his new team.

BTW freak the Patriots!

Lol, I get the disdain for the Pats, we all have that, but I'm happy somebody has picked this guy up and is letting him play.

I would love to see S Jax finish up his playing career back in St. Louis but this stop in New England is probably it for him.

SJ39 was a warrior for the Rams, loved him while he was here. He has been a player that can't find a winning team for his career.
Don't know if it's him or something else but he just can't land on a winner. Kinda like Charles Barkley, great player no rings.

Yeah I don't get it either, the best team he was ever on (before this year) was the 2004 team his rookie year that was 8-8 and made it to the Divisional round.

Charles Barkley snuck in a ring at the end of his career.

Honestly in Jackson prime I see what Gurley can be big strong fast even faster than Jackson. A lot of running backs would love to have Jackson career and if he actually had a team his record for the Rams might be untouchable.
