With all due respect to SJ, I doubt that he has more 1,000 yard seasons in him.

I feel bad for the guy. Never on a winner. If he was on a decent team for his career, he is no doubt a hall of famer.

When he does decide to throw in the towel, Rams need to sign him to a one day contract and let him retire as a Ram.

I agree with @Thordaddy And I also agree that it would be great for us to give him a retirement contract and celebration. The dude was a warrior for us.
Yeah especially if the team that needs a back in Oct or November in a playoff run IS US:cool:

He would have been the perfect complimentary back to the shifty slashers we have on the roster. Too bad he had his own plan.

Ya know, if he was willing to look at his skill-set objectively, he could actually be a good 3rd down HB for us. But I think his ego is too big for him to accept being a role player. You never know. Very good HB but he isn't HOF worthy imo.

That. I am indifferent to SJ much to the chagrin of my ROD bros. Never had much love for the guy for some reason. Wish him the best though....

if you find tape or quotes or instances of him being selfish or egotistical during his long punishing years as a Ram then maybe I'd agree but leaving a team doesn't make him self-centered or give him a big ego IMO.

"Make no mistake: I can still punish a defense," Jackson said in a statement. "There are 1,000-yard seasons left in these legs." While speaking well of the Falcons, S-Jax intimated his 2013-14 struggles were due in part to the fact that he wasn't given enough opportunities to wear defenses down with big workloads.

That doesn't sound like a guy willing to accept a part time role.

Don't really care if or who he might sign with...I liked watching him as a Ram, but I really think he is done...He might have a few hi-lite moments in him, but not enough to have him on my roster...

Good watch. But IMO, there's only one highlight in there that, to me, is a signature SJ39 run. That one is the highlight in a 49'ers game when his helmet winds up getting ripped off because he just refused to go down. Those were always the runs that got me fired up...when he would just carry 3-4 defenders for 3-5 yds after they seemingly had him wrapped up.

Agreed.

I always thought that if he'd been on say, the Cowboys teams that Emitt played on, SJ39 would have been a 1st ballot lock HoF'er.

I'm sorry but you took that quote from him and spun it around saying this is how this is interpreted. I've seen that quote multiple times and never once thought 'wow he's got an ego'. is he supposed to say 'your right guys I'm too old for this shit'. he's not stupid. there are only a couple feature backs left in the NFL he's not looking to hog the ball just cus he wasn't gonna settle for a backseat on the Rans when we had a bunch of nobodies he was suppose to share time with. sticking up for himself and believing he's still good enough to break a thousand yard season doesn't make him egotistical. that's a mind set every NFL player should have especially one who's trying to stay motivated and positive while looking for a new home.
