*sigh*

I knew money wasn't the issue. Too bad there was another one.

For his sake, I hope there's a team wanting more bell-cow.

Definitely sad news, it definitely sounds like SJ39 has moved on emotionally and is actively hunting a new team. I have to admit at being a little disappointed at his decision though, the only reason seems to be that he doesn't want to share snaps with 2 younger, very different, RBs and I find that a little arrogant - SJ39s only got a couple of years in him, and he's getting slower.

The Rams, or any other franchise, are a team and everyone pulls together to succeed. I remember speaking to Graham Henry (the former Wales and New Zealand Rugby Union coach) about him leaving one of Wales' best players out of the team he said 'One good player won't make a winning team, but if you get a team of players willing to working together that's when you're looking at a winning team.' He used to select groups of players that complimented each other, and it worked. If SJ39 didn't want to be an RB by committee then it's probably better to part company. I'm very surprised at the fact he's gone public with this info...

I said on a post on here a few weeks back, I saw him leaving for a year or 2, then coming back to end his career as a Ram. Good luck SJ39, I hope you get that ring - unless you're opposing the Rams obviously ;)

Well, this sucks. Not only do we lose the leader of our offense, but we need another RB. Good luck wherever you land, you deserve to win a championship.

The more I think about it, the more I am convinced its about a reduced role AND money.

I have suspicion that the Rams did indeed make Jackson aware of his reduced role in 2013 and wanted to pay him as such. The market value of a backup running back.

If Jackson doesn't advertise himself as a featured running back, he doesn't make featured running back money.

You know how the saying goes about athletes who say its not about the money... It always is.

** This is not a knock on Jackson and I wish him the best wherever he may go. I have nothing but respect for Jackson and the Rams organization how this handled this very difficult situation.

Yeah and as the saying goes, better to let go a year early than a year late

Sad to see Steven go. I wish him well. But if he goes to a division rival or the Patriots... I'll be disappointed in him. I don't know if D-Rich or Pead are the answer... but man Richardson is explosive and quick. I love watching him. Was disappointed with Pead last year.. but I feel he can still be a good player in year 2 and beyond.

By the way, after Spygate, they haven't won a Super Bowl.

Fixed it for ya.
Fair point. But they've also been back to two Superbowls. That in itself is an impressive accomplishment.

Not necessarilly, when you cheat.

Word is, they have continued.....just not as overt as before.

:ahight:

Nice try.
