God Bless Nick Wagoner, he keeps writing about my beloved team during the dog days of summer when many are off in never, never land and I'm on a boat bound for nowhere! Now for a few observations:

Mike Person....I would really like to see this guy play in a game please, he was added during the season never saw him play in the regular season or in a preseason game either. I know Coach O posted about his versatility, however, he's smaller than Big Baby Hooey and the Blocking Dutchman Van Dyk so I need to see Person play in person before I believe he gets a roster spot.

Philip Seward...Another guy that seems to keep coming up and I have not noticed. Realized he played well at the University of Houston, but IMO the Rams might carry someone that can offer more from the Middle Linebacker position so I'm betting on Tavarius Wilson or Etienne Sabino or actually backed up Laurinaitis at The Ohio State University.

Matt Daniels...Let me see him practice more than a week before I even consider he's an option. God he's like the Bobby Hurley of the Ram roster, however, he's never played.

The other thing Person has going for him, he has been around longer than Hooey, and basing my opinion off of Boudreau's preference to have more experience on what will be an otherwise very INEXPERIENCED group of backups (aside from Joseph). I am not overly impressed with what I have seen from Sean Hooey, he is long and lanky, and with even taking his injury history out of the mix, just not sure if he is strong enough to hold up at the point of attack.

The guy who continues to be overlooked, is Travis Bond. This guy is HUGE, and the OTA I was able to attend, was working at LT, and actually moves a lot better than i would have expected for his size.

I completely forget we even had Bond. Isn't guard his primary spot? That makes me feel a little better about our depth. Bond, Joseph and Jones I'm comfortable with as backups. The others......meh.

Jake McQuaide ' Have at me, but remember I'm Old and brittle !

I'll be very gentle, DaveFan, 'cause I'm old, too.

I think Brodine is probably a looooong shot to make the team at TE.

I also think Steward has a shot at LB over Bates.

Your guess is as good as mine regarding the 9th and/or 10th OL. Who knows?

We might carry 10 players in our secondary. If so, Roberson might have a shot with a good camp.

Otherwise, I have little to quibble about. Was that gentle enough? Lol.

Great point Coach Bond does have the versatility and came from a college that the Rams have had a nice history with in North Carolina (Mike Wilcher & Robert Quinn) he's bigger than Person too. Concur on Hooey and maybe Van Dyk needs a year of NFL Strength & Conditioning.

Thanks! I really thought I would be brutalized over my opinion vs Wagners!

I liked the way Veltung looked returning punts, but did not like him running routes. Unless the latter changes most likely barring injury he could be in trouble, however, I could see him getting picked up by another club for his return ability alone.
If Veltung isn't picked up, we could put him on the practice squad again, right?

I agree with his projected list almost across the board.

But it wouldn't surprise me if they go with only 2 QBs, put Gilbert on the Practice Squad and find a way to keep a 10 OLineman.

I also agree with the idea of losing one of the safeties (Daniels), placing Bryant on the PUP/IR list and keeping an extra CBs (Roberson or Woodard).

My count goes something like this.......

2 Qbs; 4 RBs; 6 WRs; 4 TEs; 10 OL; 9 DL; 6 LB 9 DBs; 3 ST (K, P, LS)

Don't worry, I think DaveFan is drunk too. Who the hell is Matthew Brodine? Who the hell is Michael Westbrooks? Van Dyk making the team right off the bat? Put down the scotch DaveFan haha.

Disagree on QB, IMO, after last year Rams keep three just a hunch unless Gilbert pulls a Joe Germaine. My goodness this Roberson kid must be good because I didn't think anything good was coming out of the University of Florida under Will Muschump regime.

I just think they will be able to put Gilbert on the PS, with little risk of having him poached.... And last year really shouldn't enter the thought process, IF Bradford is as far along as they seem to believe he is.

But Coach it does enter in to the process and should IMO. If your number one is not durable then you should go with three. You could be right about him not being poached, but Spagnuolo and Devaney thought that about Thad Lewis and how did that work out?

In the end I have always been a fan of keeping three QB's unless you have a player on the borderline you know will be picked up by another team.

Please not the Thad Lewis again. Fisher has shown the inclination in BOTH years he has been here to go with 2 QBs. If they keep a 3rd because they are afraid of Bradford getting hurt again, and in fact, Gilbert (or any other QB the bring in after the fact) is forced to play THIS YEAR, it won't matter who that is. Whereas Gilbert will have to be very impressive in the preseason to convince them that its too risky to put him on the PS..
