So you are telling me you would rather get a qb with the floor of an average qb and the ceiling of an average qb than a guy with the floor of an average qb and the ceiling of a great qb?! In my mind Goff and a Wentz have the same floor but Wentz's ceiling is much higher.

Nobody is telling you that. That's your own opinion. It's pretty clear that many people on this forum believe Goff has the higher floor. And there's an argument that he has a higher ceiling as well.

In fact, you limiting Goff's ceiling to an "average QB" doesn't make a lot of sense. It seems like yet another person characterizing QB ceiling incorrectly. The majority of the best QBs in the game over the past decade weren't the most physically talented.

I've not heard anyone say that except you.

I will second Jrry's sentiments. Goff has a Payton Manning/Tom Brady/Joe Montana ceiling. Now that ceiling may be a 1/1000 chance but it's still there.

Too many people are ignoring aspects of QB'ing that cannot be taught. You cannot teach mental processing speed and you can't teach pocket sense and you can't teach throwing through contact. These areas can be improved but everyone has an innate skill range.

These are the areas that are most in question with Wentz.

I'm saying it as well. Jrry and I see the same things in Goff and I honestly think his ceiling could be higher than Wentz's. People act like ceiling is set based on athletic ability alone, this isn't the case. It especially isn't always the case when it comes to quarterbacks.

If anyone has a higher measurable ceiling at this point I would think its Goff, he has the stuff you cant teach in the pocket presence and accuracy. Once Brady, Breeze, Rodgers and Manning mastered the pocket they became great. Not saying that Goff is there yet but he's has a huge head start.

"This may seem a formality, but I'm told by a source in the Rams' front office that they are taking Jared Goff at No. 1 overall. The same source said the Rams will focus on an interior lineman and a big wide receiver with their remaining selections."

From Matt Miller's last Scouting Notebook. Don't hold him in high regard, but gives some more insight to draft plans. When he says interior linemen, I'm assuming we are looking at an upgrade over Tim Barnes since plenty of guards were drafted last year.

Train.
With respect.
1. You were unaware that NDSU was not in the FBS.
2. The discussion of competition completely missed you.
3. You are smug about getting "the snot kicked out of them", "Alabama true National Champion"
4. Do you know the basic differences between FBS and FCS?

If you knew the difference, I suspect you wouldn't place foot in mouth.

Not for nothing, Most in the sporting world recognize that winning 5 back to back National Championships at any level is remarkable.

NDSU is the only Division 1 program in history to accomplish this. No small thing.
when Goff is selected by Rams with #1 , i expect you will be a whiner fan,or whoever picks Wentz
cheers
peace out

I'm a former engineer. It's in the training. I don't see anything as "perfect" and I don't spend much time on praise, but rather...fixing problems. It's what engineers do. So, yes, looking for flaws is the first step and the best place to start when projecting players because first you have to FIND the flaws. THEN, you have to see if they are fixable via coaching or teaching of a new method. If not, then that player isn't of value to the organization.

There's a reason as an engineer I never missed a deliverable. I didn't waste time on happy talk...

Bradenton side

Interesting. A friend of mine lives in Bradenton so I'll probably be driving through your neck of the woods a few times this summer. Never have driven on the bridge. That'll be an interesting experience. (y)

Careful going north... it drops from 70 to 65 and they enforce a little heavier on the north side of the bridge...fyi... There's also a speed trap right before the split before the 75/275 split. I see FHP camped there all the time, cuz I take the Skyway bridge to go to the VA in St Pete..
