At this point I'm just going to make the assumption that Vaccaro is either gone or we go another direction round one. So either this is a 2-4th round pick or some kind of trade scenario. So making that assumption, who would be your pick of these guys or other?

I like Elam and Swearinger because I like safeties that knock the snot out of people. Plus, I think they can be had in these rounds and would be good value.

Well since you took out my man Kenny (which I still believe could be our pick at 16), Elam would be the alternative if the above happens but man, either one and I will be stoked!

Sorry brotha', didn't mean to keep Kenny out. Just have a feeling somene will take him before us. No issues if we do take him, but gotta look at plan B. And there are some great options for that. But I agree either would be fantastic.

I agree that there is a great chance a team takes him from 8-14 but I have a feeling everyone is going to take the talent of WR away before our pick and maybe, just maybe Vacarro is still there.. but that is a lot of if's. lol.

Can there really be any other option aside from Rambo? I mean, the name alone...

Gotta admit, I think ANY of the above mentioned would be a significant upgrade....even as a rookie.

Any is an upgrade from Dahl. I like vacarro but he'll be gone. Elam is pretty nice. I have to watch tape on more safeties.

I can't really argue that logic :cheese: . Plus, I do like him as a player.

I think that's where I'm lacking myself. I mean I've watched guys like Swearinger and Elam destroy people but the video doesn't really show a ton of coverage skills. So I'm not sure on that front. Viccaro has been given a lot of props for his coverage which was one of Dahl's weak points. Sure would be nice to find that guy that can cover AND knock the tar out of you

I know The Doc has name dropped him a few times, but I really like Phillip Thomas from Fresno State. Injury concerns should be long gone (Broken Leg/Dislocated ankle 2011) as he regained his step last season. Dude is a major ball hawk out in center field and would make a great complement if they wanted to have a masher SS play up in the box more often. Kid's not afraid to put a lick on a player or get his jersey dirty playing the run either.

I was reading all the other posts in order, and I was about to say, "Don't fall asleep on Thomas". Philip and Shamarko. Let me throw a couple more name out there too, because I think these guys could be starters in the league, but later picks. T.J. McDonald and Tony Jefferson, who ran a poor time at the combine, and a hammy kept him from running at his pro day. McDonald might not be your particular flavor, but he has excellent size, and bloodlines, and he can play.

I like a lot of these guys. I would truly pick the best one available in the 3rd round. You would truly get value there, and may just end up getting the best one. If I picked a guy in the second, it would be Elam or Cyprien, and I wouldn't waste a first on one.

Since I wouldn't mind two safeties from this great safety class, I've been a big advocate of Duke Williams from Nevada in the later rounds. He's got some off the field stuff but I think he's turned the corner on the maturity issues. Some teams have him slotted as a nickel CB, his coverage is so go. I had him as 5 or 6 due to maturity but he did so well at the Shrine practices and combine we might have to go round 4 or 5 for the guy. He's played only SS but I believe he can play FS also. My top sleeper.

I think Stewart can play SS OK for us and Daniels has upside as the backup.

I think the Rams will primarily be looking at FS and early on you're looking at Vacarro, Reid and Swearinger as the top FS guys. FS Rambo can cover if you can get by his off the field stuff but he tackles on a par with Atogwe. Swearinger or Rambo in the 3rd would be value.

Cyprien and Elam are the best of the SSs.

Reid doesn't strike me as a FS at all. He's very poor in coverage; Tyrann Mathieu and Morris Claiborne covered a lot of his mistakes, and when he became the guy, he struggled mightily.

I like Rambo and Phillip Thomas. My ultimate sleeper is Cooper Taylor out of Richmond. Huge strong safety at 6'5", 235 lbs., but he covers extremely well. I'm thinking he's a fifth or sixth round pick.

I like the Duke too. Very aggressive tackler.
