Guys. One is a huge Giants fan and the other a huge Eagles fan. They basically said that if the Rams pull off a trade for OBJ that the NFL will be operating like the WWF. Said it’s no coincidence that the Rams are getting all these star players right before opening the new stadium and that the owners are ok with that because a successful LA market will put more dollars in all the owners pockets. Said that’s why the Rams just happen to be the only team interested in these players and they are acquiring them for paltry picks.

Of course I told them they are jealous of what our GM is doing but they won’t have any of that. They think if Rams get OBJ below market value and no other teams are involved that fans should demand an investigation.

Funny shit. Talk about sour grapes. What’s worse is my brother is a Niner fan and they’ve got him talking conspiracy theory too.

Was just wondering if anyone else has heard similar things from opposing fans.

That’s a common fan speculation theme. A team other than theirs loads up and they get sour and try to assign a conspiracy theory why. All I hope is we win and beat the hell out of the Eagles and our division.

I'm all for conspiracy theories, they can be fun if you can suspend disbelief. They are usually a way for the theorist to escape an unwanted reality though. In this case, they just hate being so jealous.

In other news, President Eisenhower signed a treaty with the Greys allowing them to abduct US citizens....for real though, check out this link

Hadnt heard that one yet. Probably because I live in whiner territory and everyone is sticking with the story that the Rams are afraid of jimmy grabapole.

There's another team in LA; the Chargers. Are they getting special treatment? If not, why not?

The chargers conspiracy free agent shopping spree at the flea market will be in 2019. Then it'll be complete in LA. Up next is the Raiders in Vegas in 2021.

Well, OBJ has said he won't play for ANY team without an extension. So, we won't get him under market value, if that's true.

And it's not our fault other teams let their talent go...

If THEIR teams pulled all this off they wouldn't say a word..

Well, obviously that explains why the Cheatriots won the super bowl in 2001. :mrburnsevil:

I think if you are a team in rebuilding mode outside of the NFC West it makes sense to deal with the Rams right now. NFL has an interest in churning SB champions. Long dynasties are bad for the league in the long term. If I'm the Giants, I'd rather see the Rams get a title or two in the next three years than the Eagles or the Cowboys. Either way this arms race is going to explode the salary caps of the Rams, Eagles and Vikings after 2020. If you are a rebuilding team, you just want to make sure you aren't directly helping a division foe.

I think the key to Rams getting OBJ is OBJ. He is worth a lot less in trade if he really isn't willing to play under his rookie contract (and subsequent franchise tags). Other teams won't give Giants a king's ransom if OBJ wants a Kirk Cousins deal to play. OBJ can veto trade possibilities (e.g., saying he won't play for Cleveland for anything less than $25mil/yr). If he wants to become a Ram, he can probably engineer his preference with a willingness to accept a short-term cap friendly deal. I could see FO finding space to offer him 2 yrs for $36mil. It would make him top paid WR with a chance to come back for another big contract in 2020.

But it wasn’t a conspiracy when the Eagles did it recently?

Several teams have pulled off stuff like this. The aforementioned Eagles in 2011, the Giants in 2016 and others.

It happens. It's a matter of serendipity and some dumb luck.

But it happens.

Can't get OBJ? No prob, we'll get Calvin Johnson out of retirement and sign him instead. Those conspiracy nuts will lose their mind seeing that on the headlines.

If anything, reminds me of the super teams in the NBA, which I'm not a fan of and not a fan of it in the NFL. Bc of our cap it only helps us in the short term, not for future success. No way these guys take a pay cut and Talib and Suh are getting up there in age.
