Sorry, I cannot let it go. On the field, mistakes are made. To send up the chain and STILL get it wrong? Inexcusable.

Yeah, it still sucks. It looks like Hekker KNEW he had the first down, so he just stuck it out there. If he had made more of an effort, and not left it up to the officials, they may have spotted it better. Oh well... time to get over this.

That's a fair question. I guess it's why i titled this thread as such.

The thing that got me was the NFL Officiating official Twitter account response. It is hilarious to see the reaction from non-Ram fans about the nerve of this guy.

Why not just say, "I blew it"? We could then all move on. But to say there was no way to tell, even from multiple angles, pegs my BS meter.

I didn't even snap the pic when ball was at furthest point, and he has it easily.

Yeah, Saints fans are even saying it was a first down.

IMHO, great call by McVay, and great execution by Hekker. Real nice body control to stay upright and stretch the ball past the marker.

The instant Hekker’s left ankle touches the ground, it’s kinda close. But the rulebook states that a runner isn’t down until something ABOVE the ankle touches the ground.

Bottom line, Rams made a great game-turning play and the replay officials botched it.

Decision has been made, let's let it go now. On to the next game, lets make sure of our 1st downs, and go get those points!
