Excellent call to go for it. The play call was predictably bad.

They should have spread the field with WR and fake it as though it's a pass, and Keemun could have walked in untouched for an easy TD.

IMO, it was just Fisher telling his team that he believes in them to assert their will.
"I'm calling this. You can either man-handle that team, or you can let them man-handle you."
That explains his comment to the reporter going into the half. He said, "that's just who we are." (e.g., not scared).

No absolutely not. Should have taken three. Monday Morning Quarterbacking? No. Here's why.

You go for the td if you're on the goal line because even if you fail - which you must acknowledge is a potential outcome, you put their offense in a terrible situation with a good chance of getting points anyway with a safety. Even more likely you force a punt and then get excellent field position with a chance to score again AND you've taken time off the clock. So most of the time 4th and goal you go for it.

However, when it's the end of a half and you don't have that back up option of a backed up opposition offense/chance for a safety/chance for great field position it's not worth the risk of it backfiring. Especially when you're getting the ball again to start the second half so you can reinforce those 3 points and the momentum you'd have had going in having scored and being in the lead.

It seemed to me to be more balls than brains as though they were trying to prove to everyone how tough they are and that they are not going 7-9 anymore damn it, when in fact it's lack of smart decision making like this that puts them in bad positions to end up 7-9 consistently with decent talent.

TD, why you ask, I don't know, ya just do. :)
But I tell you one thing and you guys can scold me all you want. If I hand off there, I give the ball to Cunningham not Gurley.

What's ridiculous about a defender tomahawking your arm as you're throwing?
Is Quinn very good at that, or is every QB he does it to, ridiculous?
The timing was shitty. Just like I had a bad feeling he'd throw the pick to end the game. (I'm sure a lot of us did)
I had a sinking feeling he'd take a sack or throw a pick (or some other tough play) and ruin the teams chances of scoring before the half. Got to be clicking on all cylinders and locked in when you've got your foot on the gas in the RZ.

I'm a glass is half-empty kinda guy. Sorry I don't share your optimism about Keenum and the team. These losses and games are wearing on me, I suppose.

Fisher's downfall is predictability on offense. He literally tells everyone we are going to give it to Gurley.

The above 7-9 coaches only tell their strategy if they plan on doing the exact opposite.

Lineup, send guys in motion, look over the defense and see what they are doing and then take what they are giving you. I don't understand what is so hard about this concept.

Tie game before halftime, offense playing very well, get the ball first in the 3rd...i loved the decision.
I actually liked the play call too in terms of a rushing play vs getting cute. Execution was poor and Detroit made a play.
Didn't cost anything.

So it was a ridiculous fumble by Keenum, because of when it happened.
And because it was a forced fumble by a D-lineman he didn't even see, he wasn't locked in.

I guess when people wanna find something, they'll do anything to find it.

the way I look at it, the 2 teams spent the first half trading touchdowns back and forth. Expecting the 2nd half to go the same way, kick the FG and get the ball back to start the half and go into the locker room with a 3 point lead on the road. If ya spend the 2nd half trading touchdowns then you are a (Greg the) leg up.

Kick the FG and go into the locker room holding your head up. Maybe the Rams wouldnt have come out looking flat

If I'm being honest, the only thing I hated about the attempt was the outcome

Yes.

Because many on here would be bitching and moaning for them "playing not to lose" or some other BS had they gone for 3.

Because many on here would be bitching and moaning had they tried an outside run that lose yardage. "Oh why try it, just run it up the gut."

Because many on here would be bitching and moaning had they did a PA call that fell incomplete or worse. "Why get cute."

It's a yard. Up the gut. They couldn't do it, and Detroit made the play. Live with it.

Hell of a post and tells everything how it is with out the fan blinders on. Fisher is arrogant, self serving, and so self absorbed that it's a me me me contest to prove all the pundits wrong. Hence, all his quarky remarks after a game a few years later...
