Simple vote to see where ROD stands on the pre-Halftime choice.

I was for going for it. I didn't particularly like the call. I'd rather have had Gurley follow the FB in.

Yes it was the right call... the play call was garbage.

We haven't been able to run up the middle all year. Any other call is a walk in touchdown.

We should be able to score from 1yard out - as my wife said, couldn't they have just stretched a bit!

coaching lost us this game.. that's 2 weeks in a row with bad play calling in certain situations. we should have kicked the fg, because anytime we take a TO, or have a long time to create a play in a desperate situation they come up with a run right up the gut (remember Tampa bay), even tho 25 defenders are in the box.

Anyone think maybe Gurley was supposed to follow the pulling guard to the left?

Not sure why Brown pulled to the left, the FB went that direction as well, leaving Gurley with a huge hole that allowed four defenders to come crashing down on him? Was that the way the play was designed? If so, I hope they learned from that and don't run than play ever again. Made no sense whatsoever.

Go for the TD, but, for crying out loud, come up with another play than the one everybody on the planet expects.

A simple fake to Gurley diving into the line and Keenum can run a boot and likely go in untouched.

Or whatever... just be creative. Just because you've got an "identity" doesn't mean it's going to work. Set the testosterone aside and use your freaking brain!

It was a gutzy call. Not sure I would have run right into the teeth of the defense though.
But, if it works, Gurley is DA GAWD. If it doesn't, Fisher is a moron (even though it was Boras/Groh).

If he wasn't supposed to, he should have, otherwise that is one of the dumbest play designs I have ever seen. And if Gurley was supposed to follow the guard, then he lost the game with his decision. Or maybe he was hit to quickly and couldn't go there? That play completely lost the momentum and gave it to the Lions for the next couple series.

I wanted him to take the points. And if not, then let the hot hand, Keenum, make a play.

Our interior has struggled run blocking..all. Season. Long. That playcall made no sense.

I'm not sure. IIRC, the hand off was to Keenum's left (with his back to the line). If Gurley was supposed to go left, he would've likely taken the hand off from Keenum's right hand.

Either way, everybody knows Gurley's getting the ball...

I said in the Rams/Lions thread to kick the field goal, but I can see the argument for both sides.

A) you kick the field goal, take the sure lead, and get ball to start the second half.
B) you go for the touchdown, and risk the points. If you get it, you're up a TD and get the ball to start the following half. If you don't, you still get the ball to start the second half.

What hurt was not getting the touchdown then punting on the opening drive. *You can't always assume that you're going to get back into field goal range every drive.* And with the Lions defense coming out of half with having made adjustments, you have to take the points and the lead when you have the chance.

I understand the decision though. I like the aggressiveness, not the play call.

I like(d) the call.

I would have been fine taking points going into half time too. But the offense was playing well. Particularly, Gurley and the o-line were playing well. What let us down was the play call. As was mentioned in the game day thread, pulling the guard there is beyond stupid.
