I just got the DNA results back from the sample I sent to the lab -- this endzone turf had Kupp's DNA from his winning TD grab!

Not sure of the regular routine, but in this case the turf was installed in 2020 and replace after the SB.

Maybe that was always the plan, every few years? Maybe they wanted new turf anyway due to injuries? Or maybe because they won it all? Or perhaps since they did what no other team has done and won the SB and 2 other games on their own turf?

one of the Bengals TEs said that the logo in the SB was bad (had weird give) and they planned to avoid that area… the same area that took out OBJ, so it doesn’t surprise me that they replaced the field

The turf needs to be replaced every couple of years. The playing surface is typically typically concrete, with inlaid drainage, and sand with layers of shredded rubber compacted down.

Spend enough time on a well-played turf is hard on the feet, the ankles, knees, hips, and back. Not only does the polyethylene/nylon top layer degrade, but the compacted sand and rubberized layer will dissipate and recess as well.

Get enough 300 pound men playing and driving off of that surface, it should be replaced every few years.
