Want your team to hold themselves accountable for their performance?
It has to start at the top.
I am willing to bet, players respect the hell out of a coach
who is comfortable and confident enough to say
"Hey,that's on me.I can do better.

Remember when he was first hired and we kept hearing
the word "special" being thrown around?
IMHO we are now witnessing.. "special"

He should be critical of himself, that was a game-losing 3rd and 4 call in that last drive. He should have kept the ball in Goff's hands. They should have ended that game with a TD while simultaneously putting the dagger right between the Cowboys eyes, removing any glimpse of hope. And another thing, he needs to improve his red-zone play-calling. Aside from that he is doing a good job. I'm actually more excited to see Matt Lefleur play-calling than Sean McVay, whenever that happens.

Don't see it as wild, I see it as a typical, excellent leader who cares about the vision of the organization as a whole.

he needs to improve his red-zone play-calling

Those problems were apparent during his time as the Redskins OC. I'm seeing substantial improvement there compared to his time in Washington

In the moment, I thought the same and generally prefer aggressiveness. However, an int there and we are all second guessing that call. Given how the D played in the second half, I think he actually made the right call - milk more time off the clock and make the opponent drive for a touchdown with a minute and change on the clock and no timeouts.

It worked out OK anyway.

His humility is his greatest attribute.

When you create an environment where its valued to own your mistakes from the top, everyone follows suite. Instead of pointing fingers everyone owns their mistake and gets better. It breeds unity and mutual respect.

In a press conference he said the run would have worked but Marinelli did a great job by calling a CB blitz which stopped the play.

When I went back and watched the play I noticed if the CB didn’t blitz (which is rare, like suicide rare) then Gurley would have ran to the left side untouched to the end zone. It was a great call if not for Marinelli taking a huge guess and being correct.

It was one of those plays where you know what they expect so you do something else. But the other dude somehow guesses you are going off script.

The crazy thing is if Mcvay calls a pass, there is a wide open WR for an easy TD since the CB vacates on a blitz. Rams win 39-30.

Makes you realize how much is determined by play call vs players.

you can see he doesn't want to make a mistake in the redzone so he gets conservative. he sees it to so he is trying to adjust.

You sure are critical of the coach who has turned this organization
from a laughing stock to a playoff contender.

He should never ever settle for 3 against Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers when the game is on the line.

If it were up to me, he'd win the coach of the year award, but that doesn't mean he is perfect, and also worthy of mention there are a couple of his play calls which are really bad, especially those screen pass calls on 3rd down and 10.

Pretty easy to second guess and assume he meant that he should have sent in a pass play. And it is way easier to sit on a couch and yell like you know what would have worked than to get the down and distance, decide on a play, and send it in while all that commotion is going on around you. Oh.... and do it in about 10 seconds so your team can run the play. Did we take a time out there? I don't recall.

Regardless, he is saying this now in hind sight. He's seeing things that would have worked in that situation. This is a staff that will admit when they missed something because they intend to make adjustments from minute to minute during the game and from week to week in between.

This is also why I really believe that he will have a winning game plan against the shecocks and that this team will continue to get better as the season rolls on.

That's all cool but that screen pass was one missed block away from what looked like a big gainer. One of the guys calling the game even said TA could have possibly gone in for the TD if that block was made. Plays are not designed to go for no gain. Neither was that one.

Anyone who criticizes our coach can go Shove It! In this case, with it being McVay himself, I need an extra Xanax...

I am starting to believe that McVay is some kind of a genetic experiment where they took some genes from Vince Lombardi, (motivational abilities), Bill Walsh, (offensive genius) and Mother Teresa, (humility).

So far the genetic experiment is going really well.

Oh, and I forgot good looks from myself.

Would it be impolite to ask Veronica to participate in the No Pirates, Just Booty thread?

He's young and he's learning and by verbalizing it he's teaching himself to be better next time

I'll tell ya one thing... he must literally pop out of bed each morning with anticipation.

Consider:
* He's the talk of the NFL
* He's got a smoking hot GF
* He's probably making some nice Jack
* He's in L.A.

Talk about a rising stock!
