The Saints are reuniting with veteran linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reported.

Dunbar, 30, played for the Saints from 2008-11. The Saints are desperate for linebacker help with David Hawthorne and Dannell Ellerbe battling injuries.

The Rams signed Dunbar before the 2012 season, and he played in St. Louis the last three seasons before being released at the end of the preseason and re-signing with the Rams earlier this month.

Dunbar was released earlier this week by the Rams. He did not play in two games after being signed following the injury suffered by Rams linebacker Alec Ogletree.

It's like he's the football equivalent of a booty call.

I don't even know if he actually plays football anymore. He may just be a travel agent or chaffuer for whatever team he signs to.

With yesterday’s addition of veteran pass-rusher Phillip Hunt, the Saints needed to make a roster spot.

It appears they’ve done so by getting rid of another experienced linebacker.

According to Christopher Dabe of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, the Saints have released linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar.

Dunbar played three games this year for the Saints, his second turn with the team. He played there from 2008-11 as well, and had to come back because they were hit with a number of injuries at the position.

Their last game before the bye, they were without Dannell Ellerbe, David Hawthorne and Ramon Humber because of injury, and Hau’oli Kikaha left after playing just nine snaps and aggravating an ankle.
