Three sacks and a boat load of hits and hurries got Robert Quinn a Player of the Week award.

Robert Quinn was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week for his outstanding season debut against the Arizona Cardinals last week.

So what exactly did the St. Louis Rams defensive end do to earn this Week 1 honor? Oh, not much, just had three sacks, one tackle for a loss and two forced fumbles. Quinn was a one man wrecking crew, again, for the Rams defensive line.

The Rams might not have won the game without Quinn's second forced fumble in the fourth quarter. Chris Long recovered the ball, which set the offense up at the Cardnials 22-yard line. They couldn't punch it in for a touchdown, but the resulting field goal tied the game.

Quinn's three sack day matches a career-high he set last season ... against the Arizona Cardinals. When the Rams and the Cardinals played for a second time last season, Quinn was held without a sack. Perhaps the new coaching staff in Arizona didn't see the memo that said: BLOCK ROBERT QUINN.

(KSDK Sports) -- Today at Rams Park, the team announced that defensive end Robert Quinn recieved the honor of being named NFC defensive player of the week. Quinn was outstanding in the Rams opener against the Arizona Cardinals, sacking quarterback Carson Palmer three times and forcing two fumbles in the Rams' 27-24 win over Arizona.

His three sacks are tied for the most in the NFL and lead the NFC. His forced fumbles are tied for first in the NFL.

In the fourth Quarter, Quinn recorded a sack and foreced a fumble which was recovered by Chris Long at the Arizona 22 yard like. That led to game tying field goal.

Quinn is in his third year from North Carolina. This is Quinn's second career Player of the Week Award an first on defense. He was named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week in Week 8 of 2011. He is the first player in franchise history to be named both Defensive Player of the Week and Special Teams Player of the Week. He is the first Rams player to earn the award on the opening weekend.

Quinn Named NFC Defensive Player of the Week

Rams DE Robert Quinn got his 2013 season off with a bang Sunday, and on Wednesday he was honored by the NFL for his efforts. Following his three-sack performance in the Rams’ win over Arizona, Quinn was named the NFC’s Defensive Player of the Week.

Quinn also forced two fumbles Sunday and was credited with three quarterback pressures and three quarterback hits. After one week, he is tied for the NFL lead in sacks. Sunday was Quinn’s second three-sack game of his career. The first also came in a win over Arizona, which was in Week 5 of the 2012 season.

This week marks the second time Quinn has earned Player of the Week honors. As a rookie in 2011, he was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week after he blocked a punt in a Rams win over New Orleans. Quinn is the only player in Rams history to nab a Defensive Player of the Week and Special Teams Player of the Week award.

With Quinn’s award, a Rams player has now taken home Player of the Week honors in five of their last 14 games. K Greg Zuerlein twice won Special Teams Player of the Week honors last year, and P Johnny Hekker was named Special Teams Player of the Week once as a rookie. CB Janoris Jenkins won Defensive Player of the Week after his two interception, two touchdown performance in Arizona last November.

Why do I get the sneaking suspicion fans for other teams will be saying similar things about their LT's? :sly:
