I agree. But very often, a blend of the two comes out even better.

Absolutely. Love Steely Dan. Saw them once in 93. They were excellent as expected. Now the real question is(before we hijack this thread completely), who would make the better head coach? :sneaky:

I'm in agreement with Jeff Fisher's basic philosophy of emphasizing defense over everything else. Injuries over the last few seasons however have thrown a kink into his plans. What I don't care for is the sloppiness and the lack of discipline that has led to unnecessary penalties and cost us more than a few wins.

1. Run the ball
2. Terrorize the opposing QB while stopping the run
3. Have excellent special teams
4. Play with discipline

I see a lot of coaching in liu of QB....is Belichick a great QB because of Brady?

Say what?

Talent along the offensive and defensive lines allows you to do whatever you want as far as scheme. It doesn't matter what your preferred philosophy is if you are weak on the offensive line. You won't succeed. If you are strong on your OL, and you draft to maintain that strength, you can change your attack based on the players you have. So I guess OL and DL over skill players and most of the rest will take care of itself.

A lot of you guys sure do like boring football. Basically I want the great show back, I like exciting high scoring football games over low scoring defensive games but that's just me.
1st off D2 production is nearly worthless...sparq rules
as to philosophy..hire the right coach who finds the best qb to run his system= wins

till you have the right coach nothing else matters...don't care if he favors O or the D or runs power/vs zone or pass/vs run...the coach followed by the qb is everything
I gotta disagree with you on sparq, I think its dumb. A lot of high sparq guys cant play worth a darn. Id rather have a player than an underwear olympian.

hey offensive teams win super bowls too, you don't have to win the boring way.

Yep. And for us Rams fans, we won our only SB and played in another with the GSOT. Chuck Knox, as great as his teams were, never got to the big game. And Jeff Fisher with his old school approach has yet to have a winning season with the Rams. Nothing wrong with winning with great defense. But it's not the only way to win a championship and it's no guarantee you will...

Just my preference guys. Isn't that what this thread is about? A team has to score more points than their opponent. That's a given. But teams have won championships without a high-octane offense.

I like best was the 2TE Skins O under Gibbs. Play action run O.
Always loved Fishers DEF since 91 LA Rams D. Ultra aggressive is a must.

Like to build through the draft
Add a piece here & there through Free Agency ala Packers
Prefer the currently model of pay as you go; it gives you best flexibility if you need to create cap space.
Power O (play action) over finesse O (or spread)

*** will continue this post later****

I see a lot of coaching in liu of QB....is Belichick a great QB because of Brady? Or is it the other way around? Does Vermiel win a SB w/out Warner? Does AZ even go to one? What came first the chicken or the egg? Did Landry make Staubach? Did Noll make Bradshaw? Don't over think this people, QB's win....

The Chicken. Mmmmmm... Sweet Chicken.

And Brady couldn't make Belicheat a QB. And Warner looked washed up until Grimm built an OLine and Fitz/Bolden lit it up.

While I agree with your tenants, I challenge you to actually complete the survey. Just because I respect you more than most, it doesn't mean you get a pass on this thread. lol
