Watched Tarantino's "Hateful Eight" last night. It got some mixed reviews - and I thought the pacing was a little off. Long periods of less than Tarantino's normally whip-quick dialogue - but somehow more realistic - with some beautiful cinematography of a wintery Montana. Also Kurt Russell rolled back the years - an absolutely great performance I thought. The rest of the ensemble cast was brilliant - as usual in his movies and in the end I thought it was a good, but rather depressing watch. It has a rather jaundiced view of human nature but without some of the triumphalism or heroic virtue of his earlier films - films based on righting a wrong and fighting for survival against the odds (like Kill Bill or Django) - but instead seemed to acknowledge the endless need for pure violence and vengenance that human beings have.

Don't Breathe 2/10

Dull. Unoriginal. Weak acting. The only reason I don't give it a 0 is because I'm sure I've seen something worse at one time or another. But it's close.

This film gets 86 percent right now on Rotten Tomatoes. Either I'm missing something or I saw a different film.

Hated it.

31 (Rob Zombie)

My buddy is a film critic, so he sends me new movies in HD. I hated his botchery of Halloween and Lords of Salem was the biggest POS ever.

With that said, Rob returned to his classic House of 1,000 Corpses style and it was brutal. I thought it was pretty good. It's about this group that gets kidnapped by people who make a game out of giving them 31 hours to survive, while being chased down by sadistic killers. If they make it past the first one (kill him), they send out a different maniac, and so on.

I usually don't like "scary" movies as I find them frankly stupid for the most part.
The Witch was the exception. I thought that was a great movie, really well done with a subtext about the nature of temptation.
Don't Breath is more about tension than being "scary". It was interesting for awhile but really spirals out. Stupid characters being stupid beyond imagination is not that interesting. The story with the captive seemed tacked on as the story sort of ran out of steam.
In with you, 4/10.

"I Am Wrath." John Travolta's hair looks like a cross between Steven Seagal and Dracula. The best part is when the guy he is killing asks "Who are you?" And he replies "I am wrath!" Oh yeah, he also had that tattood in giant letters on his back. Nicolas Cage usually gets these parts.

I just finished watching this new Rob Zombie Masterpiece. There's so much to see in this one. A MUST SEE.

Only because of Rob's wife... I'm giving this a 10. I'm fucking serious too.

This is a Masterpiece

Here's the trailer for Rob Zombie's new movie 31. You can rent it On Demand.

Take a peek at Rob's real life wife at 35 seconds in.

I think it cost me $9.99 to rent this... worth every penny.

We just watched a movie from 2014 called McFarland with Kevin Costner. I didn't have much faith it would be good but man! It was really a good movie. If you haven't seen it check it out.
